You know the one. You are laying on the beach or by the pool and THAT song comes on the radio. And you think, "Now that is what summer is all about." What is your "summer" song?

I have a few-anything by the Beach Boys or Jimmy Buffet, those are obvious.

I think the one that gets my toes wiggling in the sun the most is "Summer Days"(Hot Fun In the Summer Sun-oooyyeaahhh!) by Sly and the Family Stone.

Brown Eyed Girl by Van Morrison is a good one, too.::yes::

Summertime in the LBC. It's a 90s song, and I can't remember who sang it.

Anything Jimmy Buffett, or Springsteen

Almost anything Buffet.

Years ago it was "Summer in the City." Now I've got kids and they listen to Radio Disney and we hang out at the city pool and every so often they hire a DJ. So now, the songs that say summer are the hits of a particular summer like the Macarena, Who Let the Dogs Out and Livin La Vita Loca. Not saying I really like any of those songs, but they remind me of hanging out at the pool with my kids.

I'll go with "Summer in the City." I did some weeding yesterday, and the back of my neck actually did get burnt and gritty.

Nat King Cole - Those Lazy Hazy Crazy Days Of Summer

I remember hearing this song repeatedly one summer at the swimming pool in Anna, Illinois where my brother and sister and I used to go while visiting our grandparents. I still can't hear this song without fondly remembering that summer.

brown eyed girl, beach boys stuff, and the limbo song!!

Red Rubber Ball by The Cyrkle. One summer we sang that every day on the way to the beach and it became my summer song.

there are a few...

Richard Marx ~ Angelina and endless summer nights.

and a song by KC and the Sunshine band......december '63 maybe??? I am bad with the names of songs....

these just remind me of one specific summer that was the best summer I had! :)

Elton John's "Don't let the Sun Go Down on Me" brings me back INSTANTLY to the summer of 1974, right before my senior year in high school.

And "Beach Baby" from that general era too....I remember singing it on the way to the beach with a carload of girlfriends.

"Summer Lovin'" from Grease....

and as mentioend by others, anything by the Beach Boys or Buffett.

Just Let your Love Flow by the Bellamy Brothers
Thunder Road by Bruce Springsteen
Rosalita by Bruce Springsteen
The River by Bruce Springsteen
Sugar Magnolia by The Grateful Dead
My Maria by BW Stevenson

And ... Hi Ann! I'll tell him! :Pinkbounc

"Baker Street" by Gerry Rafferty instantly takes me back to the summer of 78.
To get in vacation mood I listen to Beach Boys, Buffett, and a cruise mix I made of stuff like "Up Up Up" and "Hey Baby" that they played a lot on last year's cruise.

Hot Fun in the Summertime
Sly and The Family Stone

(written by Sylvester Stewart (aka Sly Stone)

All: End of the spring and here she comes back
Hi Hi Hi Hi there
Them summer days, those summer days

That's when I had most of my fun, back
high high high high there
Them summer days, those summer days

Rose: I "cloud nine" when I want to

Freddie: Out of school, yeah

Larry: County fair in the country sun

Sly: And everything, it's true, ooh yeah

All: Hot fun in the summertime x 4

All: First of the fall and then she goes back
Bye bye bye bye there
Them summer days, those summer days

Rose: "Boop-boop-ba-boop-boop" when I want to

Freddie: Out of school, yeah

Larry: County fair in the country sun

Sly: And everything, it's true, ooh yeah

All: Hot fun in the summertime x 4

The Way, by Fastball

Fastball was a one hit wonder,, but when I want an instant flashback to some of our first holidays at Disney, I put this song on :)

Just the first few lines do it for me:

They made up their minds
And they started packing
They left before the sun came up that day
An exit to eternal summer slacking
But where were they going
Without ever knowing the way?

I have two that remind me of summer. The first one is by Chicago and I think it is "Saturday in the Park" I like that one because it reminds me of going to the Taste of Chicago with my parents when I saw that song preformed. The other is by Journey and is called (again I think) "lights" and even though I know the city they are referring to is San Francisco, it makes me think of the summers I spent in San Diego and I picture in my mind sitting at Seaport Village looking out at the Coronado Bay Bridge.
