What song(s) sums up your life so far??

Remember When - Alan Jackson

That song just describes our relationship, marriage, life so perfectly...we are still on the second to last verse...thirty really is just a stepping stone!!

Remember when, I was young and so were you
And time stood still, and love was all we knew
You were the first, so was I
We made love and then you cried
Remember when

Remember when we vowed the vows and walked the walk
Gave our hearts, made the start, it was hard
We lived and learned, life threw curves
There was joy, there was hurt
Remember when

Remember when old ones died and new were born
And life was changed, disassembled, rearranged
We came together, fell apart
And broke each other's hearts
Remember when

Remember when, the sound of little feet was the music
We danced to week to week
Brought back the love, we found trust
Vowed we'd never give up
Remember when

Remember when thirty seemed old
Now lookin' back, it's just a steppin' stone
To where we are, where we've been
Said we'd do it all again
Remember when

Remember when, we said when we turned gray
When the children grow up and move away
We won't be sad, we'll be glad
For all the life we've had
And we'll remember when
Remember when
Remember when

Unusually Unusual- Lonestar

She introduced herself as Amy, said call me Caroline for short
I just moved in three doors down so I wouldn't be the girl next door
And I knew the shoes she wasn't wearing fit her just right
She said, "Hey, man did you know that somebody left your grass out in the yard all night?"

She's unusually unusual
Absolutely unpredictable
She's so different and that's what's wonderful
She's unusually unusual
And that's beautiful to me

She had a tattoo above her ankle of a trident submarine
She said it symbolizes awesome powers hidden deep within our dreams
And her diamond eyes, different in color, held me captive in their light

And she said "Hey, man did you know we used to be brothers in some past life?"
She's unusually unusual
Absolutely unpredictable
She's so different and that's what's wonderful
She's unusually unusual
And that's beautiful to me

Some people may think she's strange, a different cup of tea
But she just does it for me

She's unusually unusual
Absolutely unpredictable
She's so different and that's what's wonderful
She's unusually unusual
And that's beautiful to me

I don't have the tattoo but I LOVE that meaning and if I ever do get a tattoo...that is just what it will be. Also, my dh says I have diamond eyes that never look the same color twice. I love this song!

Also, the Annie song...The Sun Will Come Out Tomorrow...I try and live by that one!

The sun will come out, tomorrow
Bet your bottom dollar
That tomorrow, there'll be sun
Jus' thinkin' about, tomorrow
Clears away the cobwebs and the sorrow
'til there's none

When I'm stuck with the day that's gray and lonely
I just stick out my chin and grin and say, ohhh

The sun will come out, tomorrow
So you gotta hang on 'til tomorrow
Come what may...

Chorus:
Tomorrow, tomorrow
I love ya, tomorrow
You're always a day away

(instrumental)

The sun will come out, tomorrow
So you gotta hang on 'til tomorrow
Come what may...

(repeat chorus)

Tomorrow, tomorrow
I love ya, tomorrow
You're always a day a--way!

And last but NOT least for my three little princes...
I Hope You Dance by LeeAnn Womack

I hope you never lose your sense of wonder,
You get your fill to eat but always keep that hunger,
May you never take one single breath for granted,
GOD forbid love ever leave you empty handed,
I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean,
Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens,
Promise me that you'll give faith a fighting chance,
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance.

I hope you dance....I hope you dance.

I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance,
Never settle for the path of least resistance
Livin' might mean takin' chances but they're worth takin',
Lovin' might be a mistake but it's worth makin',
Don't let some hell bent heart leave you bitter,
When you come close to sellin' out reconsider,
Give the heavens above more than just a passing glance,
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance.

I hope you dance....I hope you dance.
I hope you dance....I hope you dance.
(Time is a wheel in constant motion always rolling us along,
Tell me who wants to look back on their years and wonder where those years have gone.)

I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean,
Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens,
Promise me that you'll give faith a fighting chance,
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance.

Dance....I hope you dance.
I hope you dance....I hope you dance.
I hope you dance....I hope you dance..
(Time is a wheel in constant motion always rolling us along
Tell me who wants to look back on their years and wonder where those years have gone)

Minutes to Memories
John Mellencamp

On a Greyhound thirty miles beyond Jamestown
He saw the sun set on the Tennessee line
He looked at the young man who was riding beside him
He said I'm old kind of worn out inside
I worked my whole life in the steel mills of Gary
And my father before me I helped build this land
Now I'm seventy-seven and with God as my witness
I earned every dollar that passed through my hands
My family and friends are the best thing I've known
Through the eye of the needle I'll carry them home

CHORUS:
Days turn to minutes
And minutes to memories
Life sweeps away the dreams
That we have planned
You are young and you are the future
So suck it up and tough it out
And be the best you can

The rain hit the old dog in the twilight's last gleaming
He said Son it sounds like rattling old bones
This highway is long but I know some that are longer
By sunup tomorrow I guess I'll be home
Through the hills of Kentucky 'cross the Ohio river
The old man kept talking 'bout his life and his times
He fell asleep with his head against the window
He said an honest man's pillow is his peace of mind
This world offers riches and riches will grow wings
I don't take stock in those uncertain things

CHORUS

The old man had a vision but it was hard for me to follow
I do things my way and I pay a high price
When I think back on the old man and the bus ride
Now that I'm older I can see he was right

Another hot one out on highway eleven
This is my life It's what I've chosen to do
There are no free rides No one said it'd be easy
The old man told me this my son i'm telling it to you

And the wise men say "I don't want to hear your voice."
And the thin men say "I don't want to hear your voice."
And they're cursing me, and they won't let me be.
And there's nothing to say, and there's nothing to do.

Stop whispering, start shouting,
stop whispering, start shouting.

And my mother say "We spit on your son some more."
And the buildings say "We spit on your face some more."
And the feeling is that there's something wrong,
'cause I can't find the words, and I can't find the songs.

Stop whispering, start shouting,
stop whispering, start shouting.

Dear Sir, I have a complaint.
Dear Sir, I have a complaint,
can't remember what it is,
doesn't matter anyway.
Doesn't matter anyway.

Everything good I deem too good to be true
Everything else is just a bore
Everything I have to look forward to
Has a pretty painful and very imposing before

Jewel, Hands

If I could tell the world just one thing
It would be that we're all ok
And not to worry because worry is wasteful
and useless in times like these
I will not be made useless
I won't be idle with despair
I will wrap myself around my faith
for light does the darkness most fear
My hands are small, I know,
but they're not yours they are my own
but they're not yours they are my own
and I am never broken

Poverty stole your golden shoes
but it didn't steal your laughter
And heartache came to visit me
but i knew it wasn't ever after
We will fight, not out of spite
for someone must stand up for what's right
cause where there's a man who has no voice
there ours shall go singing
In the end only kindness matters
In the end only kindness matters
I will get down on my knees and I will pray
I will get down on my knees and I will pray
I will get down on my knees and I will pray
My hands are small, I know,
but they're not yours they are my own
but they're not yours they are my own
and I am never broken
My hands are small, i know,
but they're not yours they are my own
but they're not yours they are my own
and I am never broken
We are never broken
We are God's eyes
God's hands
God's mind
We are God's eyes
God's hands
God's heart
We are God's eyes
God's hands
God's eyes
God's hands
We are God's hands
God's hands
We are God's hands

Around And Around - John Denver

Time as I know it
Doesn't take much time to pass by me.
Minutes turn into days
Turn into months turn into years
They hurry by me.

Still I love to see the sun go down
And the world go around.

Dreams full of promises
Hopes for the future
I've had many.
Dreams I can't remember now
Hopes I've forgotten
Faded memories.

Still I love to see the sun go down
And the world go around.

And I love to see the sunrise as it steals across the sky.
I love to remember
And I love to wonder why.
I hope that I'm around so I can be there when I die.
When I'm gone.

I hope that you will think of me
In moments when you're happy and your smiling.
That the thought will comfort you
On cold and cloudy days if you are crying.
That you'll love to see the sun go down
And the world go around.
Around and around.

I'm so happy to see another John Denver fan here!!! I grew up listening to him (thanks to my mom) so my sisters and I now have all of his CD's. I remember hearing the news on the Today Show the day he died...

I have two by Simple Plan: Welcome To My Life and Untitled. I know Untitled is about a car accident, so it's not TOTALLY accurate, but if you take out that meaning to it, it sums me up pretty good.

There is also a song by Britney Spears called Someday (I Will Understand) that I could have written.

There is also a song by Wes King called Thought You'd Be Here By Now:

We thought you'd be here by now
your Mother and I
We're praying through our tears
that somehow
We might hear your sweet cry
Have we waited to long
It's getting harder to be strong
Is there something we've done wrong
But if you like dancing
I'll make it rain rhythm and rhyme
and melodies, child
And if you like dreaming
Your Mother will make your
imagination run wild
Somehow,
we thought you'd be here by now

We have a room just for you, upstairs
It's right down the hall
So we'll be close should you ever
get scared
We'll come when you call
It's a room full of stories
Waiting to be told
Longing to behold

And if you like laughing
I'll paint you a circus of smiles
and ferris wheels, dear
And if you like living
Your Mother will fly you to
worlds both far and near
Somehow....

I never knew the silence
could make me so deaf
I never knew that I could
miss someone I never met
Miss someone I haven't met yet

We'll be waiting
