So... I didn't have any luck getting Taylor Swift tickets during presale. So this morning they went on sale to the public, and it looks like that all tickets together have already been purchased by resellers. Oh, this steams me!!! For those families that have to have four tickets... we now have to resort to paying triple the price through other resalers just to get tickets!!
The companies do this makes me so livid!
So now that my vent is over...

what are some good sites to check? How long should I wait for tickets? The sale just went up this morning... should I get tickets now, or wait a bit for prices to "go down"? Or are they just going to go up?

I've never had to deal with this before, but my girls just idolize her and I want to do something special for them for Christmas this year, especially since Daddy is going to be home!

Any suggestions?

Contact your congressman and let him/her know what you think about this type of activity. Ticketmaster and other ticket vendors have been before Congress before to defend their actions.

As far as re-sellers go, remember that by buying from them you only continue the cycle.

Yes, I understand that, but I'm not going to let my kids miss out just because of me being political.

I'm so sorry that you were not able to get tickets. I think you may want to check ebay or stubhub. one thing i would recommend is to wait a bit. Right now there are a bunch of people who are anxious to get tickets and prices are probably high right now. Not sure when your show is but if you wait you may be able to get a 'deal.' watch a few auctions, sales on these sites to see what people are selling them for.

another things to look at is Craigslist. i recall seeing tickets available for Jonas bros on craigslist for retail or only a few $$ more.

also, sometimes ticketmaster will release tkts that were held back for promotions the week of or day of the show. the key is to check the site often.

good luck

I think the op and I must live in the same area. The tickets went up at 10:00 am this morning. I have 5 computers going and called into ticketmaster. Within 30 seconds of the page going live and 1 minute of calling all tickets were gone! I couldn't even get 1 ticket in a chance of over 9000! There is something seriously wrong here! We thought that maybe they were blocking internet sales so we went to the venue. The place was completely empty by 10:10. We asked the ticket lady for the tickets and she said that the concert sold out in one minute! No one in line even got tickets! How is that even possible? There are over 9000 seats in this place and they sold out in one minute! Even if half of the seats went presale, which I looked at on Tuesday morning when they went up and all that was available was the nose bleed sections, that would still leave almost 5000 seats. No these tickets were gone long before today of even Tuesday!

All I know is that this is truely sad! And what is more is there is no way that the artist doesn't know this is happening! Talk about greed!

EXACTLY!!! I don't understand how this even happens!! It just infuriates me as a mom trying to do something special for her children. Within minutes, seats were disappearing from stubhub like you wouldn't believe. I actually missed out on some really good prices because I was flubbing around, thinking I had time. I did get some seats center stage but second tier for just a bit over venue price. I will hold on to those, but keep looking for for better prices, and if I find better seats later (the concert isn't until March 31st) I'll just sell the first ones I bought for the price I bought them at. At least now I know I have fallback tickets. LOL I did the same thing too, by calling, checking the venue... and that's how I got the information that the tickets were pretty much gone before they even went on sale.

We have many computers going, too, and tried several different ticket combos, too! LOL

When Bruce Springsteen was here at Giant's stadium, he kept adding dates to his concerts, so that there were SO many tickets, those that bought them originally (the scalpers) ended up selling them, sometimes for less than face value! What a plan!

I had the same experience when they went on sale here, so we're just not going. There are two shows here in a venue that holds 20K, and they sold out in 2min. Of course all the major resellers have literally thousands of tickets available, at 3+ times the face value. No thanks. I'm sure enough people are willing to pay the inflated prices that the glorified scalpers will do just fine, but I'm not feeding into it.

Same story here in Virginia for a March 2010 concert. Two computers ready to go at the flash of the moment today at 10:00, and no go. :sad1:
It is disheartening to try to get tickets but yet, fail. We were unable to get tickets last year also. :sad2:

Yup same issues here. I tried 4 different concert venues to get Miley Cyrus tickets and they were all sold within 1 minute. Ridiculous. I refuse to buy from a broker too, they are the problem and I refuse to help them out. I wanted to get Lady Gaga tickets for my oldest dd for christmas this year, again all the tickets gone and ticket brokers marked them up over 100%. I waited a few days and went back to the venue site and was able to buy 2 tickets in the same row but 5 seats apart. So she will get to go but I really wanted 3 seats so she could take a friend. Oh well.

Taylor Swift was in Tulsa back in September. It sold out immediately, so we just resigned ourselves to the fact we would miss it. The afternoon of the show, I logged onto the BOK Center site to check and see if they had released more seats, and guess what? They did! They opened up more seats up high and to the side of the stage for $20 each!!!! We were even with the big screens so we really could not see them well, but other than that we could see everything perfectly. The people just one section over from us had paid $60 for almost the same view. I have heard that venues will often release more seats if once the stage is set up there are still seats you can see from. It might be worth a try if you don't end up getting tickets some other way. :)

DD and her bff saw Taylor Swift last year in Biloxi. Her bff's grandmother paid over $400 for 3 tickets from stubhub. (the same tickets were maybe $49 before they sold out with ticketmaster) There is no way I would have paid that kind of money. That show sold out within just 4 or 5 minutes. My niece bought tickets for her and her dd to the same show and paid $80 per ticket--they sat in the nosebleed section, the tickets were originally $29.

A group of dd's friends saw Miley in Memphis just a few weeks ago and their parents paid even more for the tickets.

She's in OKC this year, and I'm going to keep looking at the date gets closer. Hopefully I'll find some better seats!

They also sometimes have tickets that were held for promotional type uses... Back when I was going to concerts regularly I ended up main floor for several high demand shows (Metallica, Reba, Kiss), just by checking at the last minute to see if there was anything left. I had a chance to get Miley tickets the same way, 2 seats came up as available near the front of the lower bowl a few days before the show, but my DD8 didn't want to go because it would have meant missing a Girl Scout activity she'd been looking forward to. :confused3

my DH is a member of a fan club for another famous artist and I know he gets to buy tickets several months in advance. When the tickets go public for that artist, I am sure there are very few left due to the fan club buying them.

So my suggestion is join the fan club and next time, maybe you can buy them before the general public.

For Miley watch for the late add of $25 seats. That is what she did for her Louisville show and my friend took her daughter to see the concert. It is ridiculous that the scalpers are able to get their hands on all those tickets and no one else can. I don't even try becuase I refuse to pay the prices these people want for their shows.

Anymore the only way I've been able to get tickets for concerts I want to see, is by joining the artist's email list months ahead of time. They always send out passwords for presale. Any time I've skipped or forgotten about the presale I've been out of luck.

While it doesn't help the OP now, it may help in the future.

Doesn't seem like many concerts take too long to sell out anymore. Heck we couldn't get Imagination Movers tickets 3 months before the show because they sold out so quick!!!
