What software do you use

to manage your photo's on your computer. I am new to Digital photo's and only have about 1000 to manage now but I can really see this becoming a problem in the future trying to create albums, names etc.
Any suggestions would be great, I need something that I can burn to CD/DVD easily for back up protection, search capabilities and maybe batch naming would be nice.

Adobe Photoshop Elements 4. It incorporates the previously separate Photo Album and is great.

I use iphoto on the mac. GREAT job with photo management. Adobe Elements has a photo album which will work well if you have a pc. I've used both but just prefer using a mac for photo management and imaging.

Well, I'm cheap. Well not so much cheap as broke. I spent my money on the camera and lenses. But anyway, I use free software. I use Picasa for sorting, and GIMP for editing. Maybe someday I will be able to aford Photoshop

Right now I am using Paint Shop Photo Album 4 and the more I look at it I think it has everything I need for the moment. I really do not have the money to spend on a new application. I rather buy another card for my camera.

U can get a cheap copy of photoshop 6 on ebay, maybe £50, it basically has everything the later versions have, except a fancy layout/filters
