I finally got a digital camera. It came with soft ware but we havent' opened it yet...need to make sure this is the right camera they said we could return it if we don't like after 7 days.
Anyway did or do you use only the program that came with your camera or did you buy something else? This is all new to me!

I bought Microsoft Picture It Platinum. It does what I need it to, but I can't get the red eye reduction and retouching to work like the package claimed it would.

Adobe Photoshop Elements, Adobe Photoshop Album, Microsoft Digital Image Pro and Microsoft PhotoDraw, depending on what I want to do and my mood, LOL. I am looking at maybe getting Microsoft's Digital Image Suite.

I use Adobe Photoshop at my job on a daily basis, so that's what I use for my photo's as well. I'm comfortable using it, and it's got a lot more bells and whistles than any other photo/image editing software out there.

A VERY nice software for photos and any other kind of image is Jasco's Paint Shop Pro. Way cheaper than Photoshop, and very intuitive.

What software came with your camera? There are so very many different versons out there, and someone here might be familiar with the one you already have!

i have adobe photo deluxe and i chose to upgrade from hat came with my camera. i also have a kodak version that came with my hp camera i think.

for e-mailing pictures, Microsoft's TV Photo Viewe can't be beat. It sizes the pics automatically. Plus its a free download from Microsoft's website. Give it a try.

Photoshop and Paintshop pro. Once in a blue moon ACSEE... :)

Hey there is also a great viewer called Thumbsplus.. really nice to view all your pics at once!

Either use the software that came with your camera or buy Adobe Photshop Elements.

I use the software that came with my camera, ZoomBrowserEX, to initially edit the photos; it is the fastest way for me to rotate my photos, as I can do them in batches....plus it allows me to organize my photos in a flash and in a sensible manner. However, to actually edit individual photos--like adjust the color, crop, red-eye--I use Paint Shop Pro, and have for years.

I have an Olympus C-730 that came with Camedia Software (which I'm not to impressed with). We've recently bought a new Dell computer and it came with Paint Shop PhotoAlbum and a free trial of Paint Shop Pro 8. They seem really cool but a little overwhelming. Here's my question: Would I store my photos with the Paint Shop PhotoAlbum and enhance them with the Paint Shop Pro 8? Is this the same concept as Adobe PhotoAlbum and Photo Shop Elements? Do you need 1 to store and the other to enhance? Any advice would be appreciated!! Because I'm really    right now!

You can proably store the photos with either software. When you use the "save" button, there will be a list under the option "save as" with lots of different file types, the most common being .bmp, .jpg, .tif (or .tiff) etc. If you have a new PC, chance are you have TONS of storage, so I would recommend STORING the files as a tiff. The letters stand for Tagged Image File Format.
Tiff files are large, but they are "lossless" which means they do not lose any quality when saved. Most other formats do. Jpeg (.jpg or .jpeg) is the other way to save in my opinion, I notice no difference when saving pictures that way as well.
also, RIGHT AWAY save your pictures on a recordable CD, whIch I am sure you have on your relatively modern PC. A CD holds a LOT of info. Take them to a safe place AWAY from your house. That way if the worst happens (your house burns down, etc) your precious photos will be intact. There are some fairly cool ways to save photos online too. I use this one:

I prefer Paint Shop Pro simply because I have been using it a long time. I am guessing the Photo Album from Paint shop is simply one of those handy ways to deal with pictures, with less of the options that PSP has.

I use Windows XP and I only use the picture viewer in the OS. I just plug it and and Windows detects the new device. Very simple! :)
