Wool socks are a game changer. The thin dress-sock type are my favorite! They are so good for sweaty feet, miles better than cotton socks.
I also like to tape the spots where I usually get blisters before they form with fabric medical tape. I've had issues with Nike insoles curling and rubbing along my foot before, so now I tape the insole seams on any long-distance shoe too.
Changing up your shoes also does help, especially between brands or styles. Each shoe will fit a bit differently, so even if they all fit well, it will be a little less likely that they'll rub in the exact same spot.
