What snacks do you bring in?

I have no problems packing a sack full of easy snacks for the girls. But when it comes to my husband and I I seem to draw a blank. I need some inspiration! What do you bring with you? We leave in 3 weeks and looks like it will be warm so nothing that might melt. :)

I can't speak for all males, but I love beef jerky, nuts (smokehouse almonds or cashews), cheese sandwich crackers, dried cherries or tropical trail mix (Wal-Mart has the best trail mix with white chocolate, dark chocolate, and peanut butter chips in it, but that will melt), and an occasional whole fruit to make me feel healthy. My wife will just drink water, mostly, and devour an occasional cream cheese filled churro between meals. She likes a lot of fresh stuff that doesn't keep well in the heat.

I like to bring high protein snacks for DH and I, so it's usually nuts of some sort, or a nut mix like almonds, cashews and cranberries.

KIND makes yummy nut bars with dark chocolate and cranberries. I think they have them at Target. http://www.amazon.com/s?ie=UTF8&pag...field-keywords=kind+bars&rh=i:aps,k:kind+bars

I also like anything from Sahale Snacks; they have gourmet nut blends with various international spices. http://www.amazon.com/s?ie=UTF8&pag...ywords=sahale+snacks&rh=i:aps,k:sahale+snacks

If I bring anything at all, it's typically just a granola bar. But honestly, I just guys snacks in the parks when hunger strikes (churro, pretzel, ice cream, pastries, and other unhealthy things. Occasionally fruit or vegetables too though.)

Thanks for this. I usually just bring granola bars. But jerky and nuts are good ideas! :thumbsup2

we can't eat gluten so we're used to bringing food with us when we travel although DL is fantastic at having gluten free options. Us = me, DH and DD4

Our usuals are:
- ziploc bag w/ ice from hotel in soft cooler bag where we put:
water bottle
apples
cheese sticks
dried fruit & nuts
GoPicnic meals (a good mix of individual services of stuff like hummus/crackers)

Never underestimate how yummy a cold apple is on a cold day. Sometimes we have little packets of peanut or almond butter to squeeze onto crackers or apples for added subsistence.

Aside from whats already mentioned.. we bring
frozen Gogurts..
the Tuna salad and cracker packs.
String cheese.
Frozen juice boxes , these work as ice blocks..
zip lock bag with carrots, cucumber etc.. with ranch on the go..
you can now also get olives in go packs..
Peanut butter and Nutella on the go.. with wheat stix to dip.
Pepperoni stix
Apples..
chocolate
and the kids have a funny pack with their own snacks, normally the fruit snacks , and mini M&M's.. etc

Not a snack per se but I bring the squeezable koolaid to put in water. Saves a ton.

We usually go in the summer, so I have to find things that won't melt. And you all are healthier than me - it's vacation so I indulge in crap I don't normally eat. ;) I might bring:

- Trail mix (nuts, raisins, M&Ms, etc.)
- Oreos or other cookies not prone to melting
- Poptarts (I like mine better untoasted, so it works for me)
- Pringles

I don't allow the kids to eat very much "crap" food. So I've bought rice crispy treats, fruit snacks and cookies for our trip! In addition to the "good stuff"! Pringles and Oreos are on my list! We all love the water "ad ins"!

I don't know about your husband, but I would probably not eat any snacks that I did not pack or ask for myself... It is not that I would be ungrateful for the effort, I just don't eat many snacks. If I want something, I buy it. I suggest asking him what he wants to snack on. Something someone else packs for me is no substitute for what I am craving at the time and can afford. If I can't afford it, I live without it.

We bring: trail mix, jerky, cheese n crackers, nuts, water bottles, and fruit that won't get squished like tangerines.

I must confess I didn't pack much for DH as I figured he could plan on his own. What ended up happening is he would eat some of the kids' cheerios, graham crackers, baby carrots and apples. Figures.

We don't snack much in the parks, so don't bring along anything. We may have one "snack" during our trip but it is an in-park treat like popcorn or churro.
