my husband bought me a le creuset dutch oven for christmas. Its a 5qt and it seems small to me. he told me to get the next size up if I want, but he said it was huge and the lady at the store talked him out of it...said the 5qt is the standard, the one most people have/need.

am curious if I will end up wanting something larger...what size do you have? do you wish it was larger? smaller? any thoughts before I make a final decision?

Are you a "cook and freeze" person with soups, stews, etc...?

What do you make in your dutch oven now?

I could see me getting a larger one and getting rid of my roaster pan. My roaster pan is not big enough for all my veggies.

Oh you are so lucky with this problem. One of these days I am going to begin to get this cookware.:thumbsup2

It seems that this size you have is the most useful to start with.

I have the 3.5 and the 5 qt oval. I don't think I could lift anything any larger than that, personally. They are very heavy empty, I think the weight on the 5 is around 18 pounds (seems like the Williams Sonoma person told me that). As much as I love it, I have started moving over to All Clad for everyday cooking, the LC comes out for things that need to cook slowly.
