We are heading to WDW and DCL from the midwest in March with our 4-month old. I'm thinking I should buy some summer clothes while they are out now but I don't remember what size my other kids were in when they were that age. Can you moms of infants help me out, what size clothes should I buy, 3-6 months, 6-9 months, etc? TIA!

depends how much he weighs... I would think 3-6 if he's an average size baby. enjoy your trip!

Hi, lurking here. My ds is 4 months old and in size 3-6 or 6-12 (old navy, gap, gymboree). The first size is a little small and the second is a little big. He is in the 50th percentile for both weight and height so I would say that he is pretty average. My dd only wore a size 0-3 months at 5 months old though so it is really hard to guess.

My ds was in the 75% and I think he wore 6-9 depending on the brand at that age. He is almost 11 months but for some reason I cant remember what size he wore at 3 months. It depends a lot on the babys height and weight so I think it will be a little hard to guess. I would go a little larger just to be sure as they can always wear things a little big and grow into it.

I would wait until you're there and try on one outfit (I would assume sizing would be similar for all shorts, etc.) and go from there. Babies can have some wacky growth spurts. The first couple of years, mine would skip some sizes and stay in others a really long time. She was a size 6-12 months for well over a year. When in doubt, buy larger so they can grow into them.

My DD princess: is 3 1/2 months and she is approx. 14lbs. She is at the 50% for both weight and hight. She is into the 3-6 months right now. I just had to do a wardrobe switch the other day. Out with the 3 months and in with the 3-6 months outfits! They grow quickly. Some of the outfits she wore once while others still have the tags on them!

My kids were always big (still are...both are very tall) so they always wore a size ahead of thier age. So at 3 months, they were in a 6 month size etc. Mine were in 6-9 month sizes or if you can find just a 6 month, that would do too. It all depends on the kid and their growth patterns. Mine were always between the 80th and 95th percentile for both height and weight.

It depends on the child. My DD could still wear newborn to 3 months at 5 months of age, she was quite tiny. Both my DS's wore 3-6 month clothes at that age.

I do daycare at home and have a little boy here now that at 3 months wore 9 to 12 months clothes and now at almost a year old he is still wearing that size. Seems he finally grew into his little budah belly.

Good luck and have a fun time!

Thanks for all the responses. Maybe I should wait a couple more weeks until things go on clearance and buy a little bit of both. My DS was 7 lbs 8 oz when he was born and 17 lbs when he was four months, my DD was 8 lbs 10 oz when she was born, I can't find her four month weight. They are 14 years and 11 years now, all I remember about baby clothes is that they were never in the size that coordinated with their age.

It really depends on the child. My first DD always wore the size that corresponded to her age, almost down to the day. She still does - she is almost 8yo and wears a 7-8. My DD2, however... she was always in one size larger than her age, until recently. Last fall I packed away all her 18-month size clothes as she was outgrowing them. Now I had to take them all back out, as the adorable new 24-month size outfits for her are too big, she keeps losing her pants. So I would definitely wait, and when the time comes, if the weather on the trip is warmer than weather at home, just buy some appropriate outfits at consignment, goodwill or garage sales specifically for the trip. Then you won't feel bad about buying all these new things when the baby outgrows them before the weather at home warms up!

I would either buy loose/stretchy 3-6 months clothing (because they would most likely fit a four month old...even a big four month old because they are loose). However, I ran into this issue this year (going in March). I did find a lot of summer clothes out (and some on sale) in late February/early March. At the lower end, Target had plenty of 3.99 shorts/t-shirts and at the high-end, Nordstrom had a clearance on their "resort wear" that was full-price around the holidays. My point...you can always wait to shop later.

My DD is tall for her age and was growing out of the 3-6mo clothes at 4 months. We were in a simailr situatio this spring where we were heading to a warmer climate in March and she had nothing to wear. I went to the mall back in January (so 1.5 months early) and found that both Penny's and Macy's had spring clothes out. Penney's were all on sale the (nice!) and Macy's had a bunch of shorts and capri's from last summer still on clearance (score!). Needless to say I got a great deal and stocked her up for the spring relatively cheaply.

I would however look on the clearance racks for a small swimsuit (3-6 or 6-9dpeneding on the size) as you might wnat to get her in the water. Old Navy should ahve them on clearance soon.

Have you checked the weather stats for March? It might be on the cool side, especially at night so you may want to think layers. As for size-my son was 12+ lbs at birth and never fit the age/size scale. I ended up buying bigger for him. You can always roll up sleeves and pant legs (although fit at the waist can be a problem). Now my daughter fits true to her age, but I still tend to buy bigger especially with tops and dresses. Ive found that by holding up the same item in two sizes, you can see that sometimes theyre the same length, just one is a bit wider. Sometimes one is a tad bit longer.

I have triplets and my dd was in 0-3, ds 1 in 3-6 and ds 2 in 6-9 at an adjusted 4 months. I bought a ton of clothes in 2 different sizes for each kid on clearance last year at the end of the summer from the gap old navy and oshkosh and stored them in the attic with my receipts for this summer....I just went through them and returned the stuff that isn't the right size. Just another suggestion :)
