We are planning a trip next Aug and DS (16) wants to bring 2 friends-so I would need either 2 rooms at a Value or a room with a daybed at deluxe. Does anyone know how long the the daybeds are? Does the Yacht Club and Boardwalk have daybed like most of the Beach Club rooms? They aren't little boys anymore so want them to be comfortable. Thanks! I assume the trundle at Port Orleans is REALLY small. Cindy

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong..... But I thought that a daybed was the same size as a twin bed, which is also the same size as a trundle. I thought a trundle bed was a frame on wheels which are wheeled under an exisiting bed. So I think they are all the same size as a twin. (maybe you could save some $ and stay at Port Orleans:confused3

YC day beds ARE twin-sized. My teen is used to sleeping on them! (It's our fave resort!)

I also believe you are correct - the PO trundles are considerably smaller.

Hope this helps.

I had to sleep on the trundle at Riverside, and remember it to be shorter than a twin.

Thank you. Has anyone stayed at the Contemporary? Are the rooms spacious? Did you like the resort? Thanks again. Cindy

We have needed the trundle bed and daybeds for quite a few of our stays, and my opinion is that all the resorts differ -- greatly!

My kids are not big kids or tall kids.

We have stayed at POR a few times, and my youngest is always the one to sleep on the trundle, as it is smaller than a twin bed, and basically just a cushion, if I recall. At the BC, it was a cushion on a bench, and my oldest kids, again, couldn't sleep comfortably on it, as they hit their heads or their heels on the wood bench frame and it certainly is not wide like a twin.

At the AKL though, they are definitely twin beds. The couch folds down - like I have never seen before -- and it is an actual twin bed. Loved it!!!

We have stayed at the contemporary twice and really like the resort. the rooms are fairly big, I think they are some of the largest single rooms at disney. the location can't be beat, easy to get to the MK and to epcot, using the monorail. The day bed does open and is just like a twin bed.
I believe that the rooms at the AKL that could hold 5 have all been converted to the vacation club rooms.

Have you thought about renting DVC points and staying at a 1 bdrm villa? I've heard people rave over the villas. We haven't tried it yet but would like to at some point. Just another idea for you.

Here are some photos of the POR room with the trundle bed from Allearsnet:

You used to be able to in a deluxe room, but they don't have this category anymore. Brentalex is correct, those rooms were absorbed by the new DVC units.

What?! OMG! We loved this resort. We had a king bed for us, a daybed, and bunk beds -- it was great. So are non-DVC members still able to reserve these rooms, or are we out-of-luck for ever staying at AKL unless we book two rooms?

at BC since the ongoing room renovations are more like Poly?????

Anyone know if that is true?

Thnx...Daybeds are always nice for a little more comfort!

The trundles are really small - and I wasn't thrilled about my kids sleeping 2 inches from the carpet. Would have been fine if they popped up somehow. Just my opinion. Didn't like the day bed in BC - like someone else said - hard railings make for an uncomfortable night. Loved the day bed at the Poly. Nice and long (I am tall) and comfortable. I slept there one night when DH was tossing and turning and Loved it. Anyway you are at WDW - nothing else really matters!

My dd is just shy of 6' and we have never had a problem with the daybeds at the deluxes. It just does'nt work with the trundle. Her feet were about a foot over. I'd say it would'nt be comfortable for someone over about 5' tall.

Does anyone know what company makes the daybeds at CR or BC? I like that the couch turns into a bed. My kids enjoy sleeping on them.

For those of you commenting and posting pictures of the trundle beds, they no longer exist at POR. Or anywhere else for that matter. The Moderate resorts that have rooms that sleep 5 have a bed that pulls down/away from the wall. It looks smaller than the trundle.
