What should we not miss on the Western?

DH and I along with DD10 and DS9 are doing the Western itinerary in January for the first time. We have done the 3 & 4 night wonder. What are things we should not miss? We are active people that love water. We have parasailed, snorkeled, scuba-dived and done the dolphin encounter and loved them all. We are looking at horseback riding on the beach and doing Stingray city. Are these good choices? Should we use Disney our book independently? Any other recommendations?

Chankanaab(sp) National Park in Coz has truly excellent snorkeling....

Stingray City. We used Capt. Marvin's and did the three stop one. We absolutely loved it. We also did Chalkanab (sp) Park in Cozumel and swam with the dolphins. Stingray City was my favorite part of the trip. The water is beautiful.

Another vote for Stingray City and Captain Marvins - you can't go wrong with them and it was the highlight of our trip.

Key West was just ~okay~ in our opinions. I had been there before and it's just a hot New Orleans (not quite as rowdy tho). The southernmost point is worth visiting for pics, but looking back we wished we had rented jet skis and just played in the water

In Cozumel years ago (like 12) we rented mopeds and toured the island; it was perfect. I've heard they aren't that safe anymore (too many cars on the road) and we never got off the ship. It was great to have the Magic to ourselves for the most part! I have heard excellent things regarding Mr. Sanchos tho

You mentioned you like active: The Tropical Jeep Tour in Cozumel is awesome and definately active! We loved it last year and are going again in November.

In Key West the Trolley is about the most exciting thing we did. With younger kids, you may want to steer clear of most of Duvall street...my then 13 yo was a bit taken aback by some of the stuff.

In Grand Caymen, although I think Stingray City is HIGHLY overrated...it seems the thing to do. Seven mile beach is very pretty.

Watch for a trip repot when I return from the Western on 10/18/03. We have a few things planned that haven't been posted about before. A Scavanger Hunt in Key West,and a snorkel/dive trip with Eagel Ray Divers. Hopefully, I'll have GREAT things to say about both
