What should someone staying at BWV know?

Due to unexpected circumstances we are spending our ten day stay at AKV, BCV and BWV. We are waitlisting for BCV, but I am a bit excited about BWV so if the waitlist comes through, I might be a bit disappointed. (I am okay with moving twice - it does get me three more days in Disney!

I feel very well researched for AKV and BCV, but I haven't had as much luck with BWV. I would love to hear from all of the BWV experts. What should we know about before our July trip?

Be sure to check out the stairwells near your room. Many times they will save you countless steps either leaving or coming back to your room. When the grandkids aren't with us, we prefer the quiet pool, especially in the evenings. I like the hot tub near the quiet pool better too. If you have kids with you, the Community Hall is great for activities and borrowing movies. The villas have been renovated recently so you will be getting an updated room. Have a wonderful time!

Have all the Villas been updated?
We will be there one night pre cruise in August staying in a two bedroom in a Preferred Boardwalk View. I requested anything higher than 1st floor away from the elevators (since I want a good nights sleep and a very light sleeper).
I don't mind hearing the noise from the Boardwalk but don't want to hear elevators.

The hallways are long and cold. If you have a car and don't use valet parking, be prepared for a long walk. You must go outside to reach any place that sells or serves food. It is a much longer walk to Epcot's International Gateway than it is from BCV, but closer to HS. For several of the above reasons, we prefer BCV, but, that being said, we do like the BW area, especially Flying Fish and ESPN and the fact that there is easy access to the Swan & Dolphin restaurants.

Glad you said that -- as the stairwells were my first thought also. Find them, use them and save both time and walking!

Something not yet mentioned: We found the new refrigerators don't close properly. Be sure to give them a gentle nudge after closing to be sure they are really closed and sealed.

Beware Pennywise the clown !!

I never minded the clown. We did a larger family trip (19) and had one of my sister-in-laws really get creeped out by the clown.

Thank you for the advice about the fridge. I told my husband he might have to move the van early in the am from BCV to get a place. I would have never thought about the stairs. Thanks for that advice.

My daughters like to be scared and the one thinks the clown is creepy at night. So, they are excited to ride the Keister Coaster.

Any other tidbits come to mind?

BWV is really close to the Miniature golf courses at the S&D. There are Disney movies played at the Beach Club beach. Its a lot of fun to stroll or surrey bike around crescent lake.

I see you have little ones, but if you can find a sitter, Jellyrolls is the best (I think only) club on the property. It is dueling pianos which go non stop playing request after request. It is on the end of the BW area and we make sure we hit Jellyrolls on one of the nights we are at BWV, often staying until 1AM. You do have to be 21 to get in.

It has already been mentioned, but we love the Community Center at BWV. It is located right next to a quiet pool/spa/BBQ area so you can watch the DH cook while the kids swim, soak, play table tennis, foozball, air hockey and Wii without leaving your lounge chair.

If you are a walker (walking simply for the sake of walking) -- you might enjoy the loop encircling the cluster of hotels: Swan, Dolphin, Yacht, Beach and Boardwalk. You'll find side walk for all except short strips on either side of the canal underpass. (The underpass itself has sidewalk.) The stretch along the Swan/Dolphin is especially pretty as the sidewalk varies in elevation, has a few curves and is surrounded by rich landscaping.

You can pick up a few staples (food and beverages) from the Hess Gas Station located across the street from the entrance. Prices may be better than finding similar items at the Screen Door General Store?

I keep posting about this since I came back last week -

The 1 bedroom and larger villas have washers and dryers. The new washers have a weird safety feature. Once you close the lid, you cannot open it until a few minutes after the load is done. If you try to jam it open before that time, you will break a switch, and the washer will not work again until the electricians come to the room and replace the switch.

There is no sign or instructions indicating this in the rooms.
