so, i've read a lot of mixed reviews on the sci fi dine in. im slightly hesitante now on my meal choices altho, i do remember reading that the onion rings are good. so my question to you is what other lunch items are good on the menu. and which ones should i stay away from? :thumbsup2

I'm curious to know too. We've never been to Sci-Fi and thought it might be fun. But if the food is just so-so. then maybe $ would be better spent elsewhere. Anyone out there with any opinions?

Sometimes I think I'm the only person on the Disboards who likes the Sci-Fi so I'll bite. My favorite thing there is the spinach cheese dip!! And I HATE spinach all you can taste is the cheese (and chips) ;) .

Their onion rings are very good. I like their burgers. My DH likes the Reuben sandwich. I hope you have fun.

My dad really enjoyed his reuben sandwich. I did not care for (to put it mildly) the BBQ grilled chicken sandwich. It was burnt and tough and mostly inedible, aside from the onion straws and fries.

The family of 4 beside us ordered liver & onions (which I was not even aware they sold), and loved it. I would not touch that kind of meal with a ten foot poll ANYWHERE let alone WDW :crazy2: but if you like that sort of thing, I thought the info might be helpful. :lmao:

The onion rings are good along with the BLT soup (go figure). DH loves the reuben, and the last time I had the chicken sandwich it was a tad too dry.

DH & I are mostly nothing-fancy/old-fashioned kinda eaters...I even get my fast food plain. I've wanted to do Sci-Fi ever since I heard about it, but something always came up. Do you think they'll have anything plain enough for us? Like burgers or chicken or sausage? Or is everything all fancied up with spices, sauces, dressings, and other "toppings?" And are the portions large enough to share? We share a lot of meals at WDW since they're bigger portions and it also helps to keep the cost down.

we always get the spinach dip & onion rings as appetizers, cheeseburgers & fries, and finish with the apple/ice cream dessert thingie!

ok. so it sounds like i should be getting either a reuben or a burger of some sort and i shouldn't get a chicken sandwich. the chicken sandwich part is good to know because thats all my DBF eats. i'll make him get a burger. altho, he does eat anything.... :rotfl:

WE love eating at the Sci-Fi....although we are not fast food eaters, this is our one place for fast food (in a sense)

I believe DH usually has a burger and I usually the grilled chicken. My favourite part is the milkshake, you have to have one!! :goodvibes

Shrimp Penne Pasta with Garlic and Capers sautéed in Olive Oil, Plum Tomatoes, Opal Basil, Baby Spinach, White Wine, and topped with shaved Asiago Cheese $17.19

It's really good. I've gotten it the last three times I've been to Sci-Fi.

There are a few things that we LOVE there:
Onion Rings (the BEST)
Spinach & Artichoke Dip

Cheeseburgers
Reubens
Shrimp Penne Pasta

Milk Shakes
Cheesecake

The only thing that I would never order again was the Apple & Pecan Crisp. To me it had a very strang after taste. I LOVE the cobbler at Le Celliers and this could not even be clse. That is the only thing that we have disliked! We go every time we go to Disney!

We all love the burgers! YUM! And you can also get them for dinner though they are not on the menu. :)
Hey, I will be back at Sci-Fi for lunch in 4 weeks! :teeth:

The last time we went I had the BLT soup and the chicken ceasar salad.

I LOVED the BLT soup, which was unexpected. The salad was okay, I probably wouldn't get it again. The chicken was too dry.

My hubby had the onion rings (yummy) and a burger. He really liked both.

We both had milkshakes for dessert and those were both very good too.

We always enjoy the Sci-Fi. It's definitely not gourmet, and good food and a fun atmosphere. Have fun!

Ok, does BLT soup actually have lettuce in it?

Just a few tiny strands on the top. You can always pick them off if you wanted to because it is not through-out the soup. I had read on these boards how good it is so I tried it. I was really surprised, it was tasty.

IMO, SCI-Fi has the best burgers in all of WDW. The onion rings are excellent, in fact I usually do not have onion rings any where else: I go to SCI-Fi for that treat.
The Reuben is also extremely good, one of the best I have ever had.

The ribs are not worth the price imo, I would rather have the Flame Tree BBQ ribs in AK (and the price is less there also).

The milkshakes are pretty good, as good as Beaches and Cream in my opinion, certainly better than WCC (although WCC milkshakes are bottomless, so that makes them an okay deal).

the ice cream sundae is my favourite dessert at Sci-Fi. As someone previously posted, the apple crisp tastes a bit strange.

My BIL always gets the steak, and always says it wasn't very good. I think it is time that he tries something else, but steak is all he will eat.
Nobody in our family likes the chicken sandwich.

I am going back in Sept and Oct, both times to have the burgers, onion rings, Milkshake and sundae. :cool1: :cool1:

:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :woohoo:

We stick to simple fare, but really like it--burgers, onion rings and shakes (try the Oreo shake--yum!). I tried the chili once, not good at all. I don't know how anyone can ruin chili, but SciFi did.

Can't go wrong with the burgers! Enjoy!

We loved the burgers and the hot fudge sundae. :thumbsup2
