What should I do??

Ok, so here's my story...I've had our summer trip planned for months--a week at Hyatt Bonita Springs (we own HVC as well as DVC) and 4 days at Disney (AKV-Kidani 1 br SV). So then last week I find out my girls dance studio is having their recital June 3/4, right in the middle of my trip! They have not been consistent with the recital dates the last 3 years, so it makes it impossible to schedule my vacations, and we have in fact missed the recital the last 2 years due to vacation (one was mid-June, one mid-July--how are we supposed to plan???)

Ok, enough venting...anyway, my girls want to do the recital and I decided to reschedule our Disney days. I can't change the Hyatt week, so we will have to miss 1 day of it, but that's ok. So we'll move our Disney days until after the beach. I was able to get a 1 BR at VWL, which I love, but we had been set on AKV this year, and we just did VWL last year. I was considering wait listing for AKV and maybe BLT Standard view, but for some reason, I just can't bring myself to do it...after all this, I think I really wanted to stay at VWL! My girls want me to wait list though...I wonder what my odds are that the AKV comes through? I truly doubt that the BLT waitlist would come through, as I only have enough points to try for standard view. I know this shouldn't be such a dilemma. The hard part was getting the new reservation and being happy with it, right? But now I am happy with it, and I made new ADRs around the VWL, and I just don't want to switch. I think my girls really wanted AKL this year though, since we are skipping AK park.

Opinions please? Should I wait list, knowing that I actually hope it doesn't come through? My DH says just wait list AKV, not BLT. I feel kind of bad ignoring my girls request, knowing that Disney is more about them than me...Seriously, this is not that big of a problem in the grand scheme, but it is what the Dis boards are for, right??

I vote for going with where YOU want to stay. Afterall, you are the one paying for it. And, everyone knows that is mama aint happy, nobody is gonna be happy!!! I am sure the girls will be happy just to be at WDW. You are obviously a good mom, for rearranging your trip and stuff..you deserve a say too!

In all seriousness, DH and I made an agreement when we joined that we were going to try all of the DVC resorts. I am SO glad we did (BLT is the only one we have left on WDW property). I put off Beach Club to the very end because I just didn't "think" I'd like staying there (and remember...I make the reservations! ), and it's one of my personal favorites. I find myself wanting to own points there, because it warms my heart!

With that said, if you haven't stayed at AKV, I'd waitlist it. If you have, then I'd be tempted to keep the VWL reservation. Since you own at AKV, you can get advanced reservations there. Getting reservations at VWL may be situational for you.

Best of luck with your decision! Don't you just love the internal debate on which resort? I look forward to having that problem every time I make a reservation! Funny thing is, instead of bonding with my home resort, I've bonded with all of them. Where "we" stay just depends on what "I" want out of that particular vacation (unless I get a special request!).

I would just waitlist for AKV savannah (or is SV standard view?) and let the chips fall where they may.

Thanks for the advice! We have actually stayed at AKV twice, once at Kidani and once at Jambo. We definitely prefer Kidani. We have actually stayed at all the DVC resorts now except OKW, HH and Aulani. That is why I am torn--we love both AKV and VWL....probably my 2 favorite WDW resorts overall. By SV, I was referring to Savannah view...for me, that amazing view is what AKV is all about!

We just had such a wonderful vacation last year at VWL, I think that is why I am so drawn to go back there...but I do LOVE AKV, and I was initially super excited about staying there this summer. I think I'll sleep on it tonight and talk it over with the family one more time. Obviously, there is no guarantee that the wait list would come through, but I know a couple of my nights were available at AKV when I made the VWL reservation, so I would guess that it is definitely a possibility. I know we will have a great trip either way!
