I bought for DD's to crop when we get home from trip in Dec. 7X7 CM book. Should we take them with us and have characters autograph those pages or should we just get the regular auto books and them crop those into the pages? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

The bigger the space is the bigger the autograph. If you want to have more control over size and placement I would make tags. We did this on our last trip and it worked out well. We had used the autograph books in the past but ended up with some siggies back to back so I had to scan them.
You can buy mini clipboards at Walmart in the office supply section to clip your tags to. Carry them in a ziploc bag and everyday empty the bag of used tags so your not lugging them around. Some of mine were color specific like blue for Cinderella and Pink for Aurora but mostly they were white and off white.

Hope this helps!!

Thanx for the great idea, I now will begin to make a bunch of tags in multiple colors and carry a bunch of colored pens with me. What size of tag did you make, I have a sizzix machine and can make my own tags only the size is limited. Or should I get the Stampin Up tag punch? Just curious?

Mostly I just cut out 4x4 and 3x5, my books are 6x6 spiral bound scrap books. I would suggest at least a 4 inch writing area especially for characters with gloves or paws. It makes it easier for them to sign.

Buzz, Woody, Frozone and the Incredibles all have stamps and they measure 2 3/4 inches long so you definitely want at least 3 inches for them.

It will take me a few minutes but I will load some pictures of what I have so far.

These are in various stages of completion.

Clockwise this is Woody, Mary Poppins, Buzz Lightyear, and Jasmine

The covers, one for each of the boys.

I also put our address on the inside front cover so if it got lost someone would hopefully drop it in the mail.

They look really great! Did you have each boy get his own autograph that you then cut apart (somehow - if it wasn't the middle of the night, I'd be smarter) and attached in the spiral notebook? Or did you scan and print each autograph to get all 3? Just curious. Thanks! :)

They each got their own autograph. I did that because it was DS9's birthday and I knew that the characters would write some personal messages.

We went to MNSSHP and I only brought one book with me. Villains were out that night but not for long so we tried to rush through the lines. Those I scanned and reduced.

Now I just need to get all the pictures in...... :rolleyes1

I have my kids get their own autographs too... One thing I do is (and I'm sure you do too).. I have them all ready to go.. pen and paper is ready for character to sign... I take pictures while they are signing and than one group picture... Between DH & I with 2 cameras we get lots of good pictures..and we don't take up to much time... I hurry my kids along because I know there are others in line! However, I must say last summer we were usually the first 2-3 in line and the lines were not long at all.. we got very lucky and charactes spent more time with my kids!!! I'm definitely going to start working on the tags for the kids' books this year! I may be needing you for inspiration though!!! :artist:

We took group shots on our first trip but they are better behaved and we actually go faster if we do individual shots.

For our May trip (DD's first), I made DD a paper bag book for her autographs- I took standard lunch bags (4), folded them in half, stacked them and bound the folded side with ribbon. The openings of the bags create pockets, where the autographed tags are going. I lined the "pages" and I'll add pics of DD with the characters- it will be her own mini book!

I used the Ellison large tag die at my Local scrapbook store (LSS) to cut the tags- the tag is 3" x 4.5"? Embellished with ribbon and the stamp-edge character stickers by Sandylion.

I bought a clipboard and a package of retractable sharpies, and tied a sharpie to the clipboard with a long piece of ribbon that matches the book. Then I just got silly and tied scraps of matching ribbon to that whole metal loop. :)

The system worked well for us- the characters didn't seem to have a problem manipulating our system. In retrospect, I might have made the tags just a little bigger. I wouldn't go much smaller than the tags I had.

I'll need to post pics...

Oh, please post pictures of this, I would love to see how you made this and see how the whole thing worked. My youngest DD (7) will really like this idea!!!

So, just how many posts do I need to be able to post links? :rolleyes1

Regardless, I posted some pics in my member gallery- a couple of pics of the autograph book, and a couple of pages. As soon as I post enough to add links, I'll do it!

UPDATE! Aha! I can post links now! Here are the links:

Hmmm, maybe I can help with what went wrong- I was teaching the local girls scouts how to make them all spring long! For a while, I was dreaming about making paper bag books... Eeek!

I tried to put a paper bag album together but it just didn't work. I have however received the Oriental Trading scrap catalog in the mail and they have board books that you could alter into autograph books.

I think I just wasn't being patient enough. Do you fold them and stack them or fold them and layer them all together with just one on the outside? Does that make sense???

Off Topic,
tgmousechick,
Where did you get that stained glass pic of Cinderella and Prince Charming in you 1997 summary page? I love it!!!!!!

I have also seen autograph stickers for sale on the internet for those that you missed.
I seem to recall there were only popular ones so they may be the ones you would have already. Anyway great for the time you missed a characture. They looked exactly like the correct signature too!

It was our reservation card when we had dinner at Cinderella's Royal Table. Do I need to scan it for you! :)

I layer the bags, and then fold.

Could you?! I can PM you my e-mail address. That would be so cool!! Thanks!
I did a page of the mosaic murals in the castle but it just wasn't finished and that pic would be perfect.

As for the paper bags I stacked and then folded them but it just didn't work. I guess I should try again.
