What should be the "WOW Factor" at DD's Graduation Party?

For sons graduation I knew the lady doing the all night lock in and rented the sumo suits from her for my party the next day. Was so excited. The suits sprung a leak that night so not fun there.

My daughter will graduate in June and i am doing a theme party "My Future is So Bright, I Have to Wear Shades." Going to blast the song and do everything in Yellow and black. Going to Goodwill/$store to get sunglasses.
It will be a good time!! Yellow T-shirts and blck shorts.

Funny how kids can be so different.

When my son graduated from high school, he did NOT want a party. We gave him money instead.

When my oldest daughter graduated from high school, she was really excited about having a big party. We went with a carnival theme, and the highlight was definitely the big castle-shaped bounce. The teens had a blast jumping around in it, and I'll never forget the young man who kept saying, "I seriously haven't had this much fun in a long time!"

We grilled burgers and hot dogs, and rented an old-fashioned popcorn stand and a cotton candy machine. One of daughter's friends played DJ and spun old records during the party. We had an above-ground pool at the time and threw in dozens of small colorful beach balls, (Oriental Trading Company), that the kids took home with them.

We had one party in the early afternoon for family and relatives, then another party in the late afternoon for daughter's friends. That way, we didn't have to worry about little ones running around and being in the bounce when the older kids were flying around and bouncing off the walls!

We are having the party at my ex's farm so I thought a pig roast would be great and I also wanted to hire either her friend's band or a DJ. But she doesn't want music and nixed the pig roast because her best friend is a vegetarian. I like the chocolate fountain idea and she's a huge chocolate freak so that might work. The other thing I want to do is hire a barista to blend up frappuccinos, iced lattes and the like. My girls and their friends spend a fortune at Starbucks so I thought that would be nice since there is no way I'm having any alcohol on site.

My youngest daughter would be incredibly sad if she found out a party she was invited to was going to be a pig roast. She's a vegetarian and very sensitive about such things. I think it's nice of your daughter to take her best friend's feelings into consideration.

I'm having a small Graduation Party for my daughter. She is grauduating college after three years. I'm so proud of her. I love the chocolate fountain idea. Where did you guys get yours and which one do you recommend? Looking on Ebay and they seem to have alot. Thanks, Gina

I graduated last spring, and I had a party, but there was no "WOW factor" that I can remember. None of my friends really had anything amazing, either. We just all had lots of food, lots of pictures, and space to play frisbee/football/cornhole/whatever. Actually, probably the biggest hit at my party was that we set up a tv with video games in my garage, with seating and 2 DDR mats. But that's the kind of stuff my friends like to do. I don't know, I was fine with my party.

But, if you really want something big, other posters have given some really good ideas... especially hiring a barista to make coffee drinks. That would be pretty awesome.

Why don't you do the Coffee House theme. Set it up like a coffee house. Bring a sofa outside, Small tables & just do deserts.

My son is graduating in June, and our WOW factor is we're taking him on a 7 day Disney cruise and a week at Disneyworld for his graduation! , so no party here!

For my sister's we had a DJ set up in the backyard on the deck and he did karaoke later on. Her friends had a blast.

That was my idea...great minds think alike.
