What should be my top priority at seven months?

So we would like to do a split stay for this November's trip. We are confirmed boardwalk but are looking at a bay lake Tower and Beach club.

I know MS Have to cancel our original reservation for the next. So should I try to get beach club for the entire stay? And then see what I can get at BLT? I know with the more "scenarios" I have them check is wasting time for getting what we want which is ultimately 2 nights Lake View BLT and the rest BC. It would start the Thursday before Thanksgiving for 5 nights

You're going during one of the busiest times. Anything's possible. I would probably suggest that you do two waitlist requests. The first one for the two days at BLT and the second for BC. That way if one comes through and the other doesn't they can modify the BW reservation. You can also check availability on the MS website to see what your chances are.

Well they have to be booked as separate reservations (split stays are not considered a continuing reservation) so they have 2 different windows for opening. I would check online to see if you have a chance for BLT when the 7 month window opens and then again just before you call MS. When you make that reservation modify the BW to reflect less days. If you want to cancel the reservation as a whole you can do that yourself on the website but I wouldn't do it before you have a chance to book anything else.

Right...I guess I'm trying to figure out if I should try and and go for BC first for the ENTIRE listing or just the three days we want then, book those and cancel BW, then have them look for the BLT and if I can get it then book BLT??

I would check the online system before calling and see what is available there to make that decision. By the way I just tried to add onto my home reservation at BLT that starts the day you are looking at and availability was limited at that time for studios and 1 bedrooms.

The way I do this is to take it into account in my initial booking to make it easier for myself at 7 months. For example this summer we are going for 12 nights and I wanted 4 nights treehouse, 4 nights AKV, 4 nights BLT so when I made my initial booking at 11 months at my home resort AKV I made 3 4 night booking so I could cancel or waitlist separately. It kinda worked we ended up with 6 nights treehouse, 3 nights AKV, 3 nights BLT.

Modifying one long booking is harder than canceling just the number if nights you need to cancel and this makes it much quicker to change if what you want is available as you can do it yourself online

That's a great idea for future!!! I looked last night and as of right now there is availability at BLT for the first day of our arrival. I looked for 7 days out and it was there... I never understood walking a reservation last night, lol! As I could have booked for seven nights last night and then walked till I got the exact dates I wanted... I know I know simple enough, lol!!

i have never found BLT as hard to get into as BCV and we have had good success with BLT waitlists. Of the two i would expect BCv to be trickier but maybe thats just my experience.

Yeah last year, we got BCV after waitlisting a day or two I think. DH wants BCV this year again as he like having a CS on site especially with the kids. Not something we thought much about when we bought at BWV. Don't get me wrong we will be plenty happy staying at BWV but something to be said for variety, lol!
