their disgust, displeasure and discouragement (to put it mildly) to elected officials?
WAY TOO LITTLE TOO LATE.
And this could happen to any of us in any major disaster.

I guess we could write emails. It's not like we can stop sending in our taxes.

Maybe drop them into New Orleans?

email, phone calls, letters to your elected officials.

I read an article about this woman sending compaines complaint letters and complimentrally ones. Whe called them onions and orchids. I say we send them all an onion.

Vote In 2006!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've e-mailed and told my senators, governor, and president that I will not be donating any money until they rescue the 20,000 people who followed instructions and are being left to die.

FEMA is on saying they JUST heard of these people today---I guess the desparate ones at the dome.

Sounds like the convention center with critical needs is priority--b/c that's where he's sending the stuff. Sounds like FEMA "didn't know" the critical nature at the DOME.

Thanks media for showing all the LOOTERS!!!!

What are you disgusted with?

We're dealing with something that was unfathomable. Thousands (probably) dead, little or no access to areas that are in crisis.

The politicizing has begun....I knew it would happen...just didn't think it would happen this soon.

there are quite a few threads on what people are disgusted with.

It isn't politics. I know I am a republican, I think Lisa is one, too. Can't say for the rest.

People need to be taken care of, not just ignored. Reporters are getting into the city, busses are getting out of the city, where is the relief????

It is partly politics. it can't be denied. sorry, but the Republican Party is lost to me at this point. I can't stand the fact that they still use the title "Republican".

but that's a whole 'nother thread!! :teeth:

Hate to tell you but the people in charge in LA are democrats - the lady Gov, the N.O. mayor. They are the ones to blame if you want to blame someone.

Yep conservative republican all the way---who has been through 3 Hurricanes and just realized..she doesn't know what suffering is.

This isn't politics in the slightest! This is humanity. I really am not made at my officials---but the federal government needs to step up and override the local government. It is a federal disaster area. The local government just gave out the SOS signal. It is game over and simple take care of your fellow man!

I'm no fan of Bush...however, what does blaming politicians for what happened do at this point? I guess that's my point (although, I guess you didn't feel like discussing it since my response doesn't "deserve" a response back -- with no debate board, who can tell when someone wants to debate or not  ). At this point, they're getting supplies there and doing all they can. Once again, we're dealing with thousands upon thousands of people here whose lives are in shambles.

We're dealing with a city that immediately following the hurricane was in bad shape, but with all the flooding is in worse shape. We're not just dealing with a need for food and supplies, but a need for law with all the looting, snipers, and rapists running around (a report on Drudge says that we are resorting back to our "primitive nature").

Lisa Loves Pooh summed it up best when she said the following:

I'm just upset that automatically the President is to blame for everything that's going on there (and this is from someone who doesn't like Pres. Bush).

This is something we as a nation have never experienced before and politicizing this horrid situation seems callous to me at this point in time. Just my opinion -- flame me if you must...

I'm copying this from another thread in hope people will take it and run with it.

I'm with you on this. I realize that a lot is being done, but I've got to say, why the hell am I (and probably another 5000 military members like me) sitting behind my desk right now when I could be handing out food and water, or recovering bodies? I've called 3 different personnel offices today asking if they are going to take people from here down south to help...no plans to do so at this point.
...
Please, please contact your senators and representatives and tell them to really press the President and the DoD to solicit military volunteers to go help.
I don't know how many people I've talked to today that would go in a heartbeat if only they would give us permission. Most have even said we would pay our own way, drive ourselves, if they would put us on permissive TDY orders. There is so much that we could do, even if it isn't within our usual jobs.

You have a point. :teeth: Anyway, don't want to hijack. Carry on.

I vote with my brain, which means I cross party lines and vote for the person I think is the best suited for the job when I push the button.

I'm absolutely disgusted with the "Chiefs" in this one. I've never seen such a lack of leadership during a disaster in my life.

Well, I for one have never seen a disaster such as this in my 25 years.
