What Shoes to Wear?

I try to take a very comfortable pair of walking shoes, like tennis shoes, that have good support and room for toes. That way if your feel swell a bit your shoes are still okay. I also take a pair of very comfortable and supportive sandals. I have seen many people wearing Teva or Nike Straprunners, those would be a great option if you wanted to take just one pair of shoes.

Whatever you are comfortable wearing. I would just say make sure they are broken in. You don't want to wear brand new shoes, you'll end up with blisters.

One suggestion is to bring 2 pairs, so if it rains, you have a back-up. Nothing worse than having to put wet shoes on and walk around in them!

Another suggestion... make sure that you wear the same type of socks while breaking in your shoes as you will be wearing in the parks. When we were there in August, I was wearing a pair of sneakers that I had been wearing for almost a year. I always wore them with thick socks, but I only took the thin nylon socks for the parks. After the first day, I had blisters and had to bandage my feet as well as wear 3 layers of the thin socks to at least make it bearable to walk the parks. I learned a huge lesson on that trip!

I wear Adidas "soccer" sandals all summer ... so that's what I wore for our August trip ... I also brought a pair of broken in sneakers.

The nice thing about the soccer sandals is that they don't hold water if you're feet get wet ... on the con side they don't offer any heel/ankle support.

I suggest you bring a couple of pairs of your favorite "around town" shoes.

Another vote for "sport" sandals. We all wear Nike Straprunners at the parks. At first we brought sneakers, too, but we ended up never wearing them b/c we preferred the straprunners.

There are water-compatible sneakers available if you really want a full-coverage shoe with arch support, but don't want to deal with wet shoes; Merrell makes some that are very nice. Sneakers like this have no absorbent materials in their construction, so they dry very quickly. Change your socks and you're good to go.

I bring sneakers and my sandals. I usually wear my sneakers. My sandals are sports sandals and can get wet, so I use them for waterparks.

i rotated each day. One day I wore tennis shoes and sandals and the next day I wore my Soccer Sandals. It gave my feet a change. I don't wear tennis shoes every day so I felt very confined and hot wearing tennis shoes every day.

I agree with the above poster. We rotated shoes.. usually our Nike straprunners especially if there would be water attractions and tennis like for Epcot. It worked great...Hope this helps:cool1: :scratchin

If you take a backpack, you can pack sandals or a second pair of shoes for the day. Try to use common sense with your feet, don’t over do it! Make sure your sneakers have enough cushion in the heal & forefoot so your feet don’t take a beating while walking through out the park. I can’t agree more with the above post; break in your shoes early!!

I tend to overpack but I try to make sure everyone takes two pairs of good supportive tennis shoes. You really need change shoes between days to avoid blisters, soft spots etc. You may want to consider taking water shoes for kids in a backpack in the parks. With all of the fountains, and super wet water rides you'll need them. We just swith shoes before going to those attraction rides. We always have a stroller so we have a place to store them.
Last trip I brought everyone a pair of good shoes, what a waste we only used them for the Cinderella dinner at GF. Never again

I rotated tennis shoes, for the kids. I wore Birkinstock sandals, rotated with my tennis shoes. I have also had good luck with Born sandals
