What are some great walking shoes for Disney? I'm going in Sept so it will be hot. I'm assuming tennis shoes would be best. I don't like crocs.

What else? And for the guys too?

Teva mush flip flops are awesome for the parks! I have sold so many people on them who thought that they hated wearing flip flops. I am not taking tennies for any of us (me33, dh33, dd8 ,dd4) We all just take our tevas! DD's both got new crocs so I will take those for them too, but I am just taking a couple of Tevas for myself and dh!

I'm with you! I don't care how many people extoll the virtues of Crocs, it is a fashion crime I simply cannot commit :rotfl: . For me, it's Puma Mostros in a variety of colors, or Rainbow Flip Flops (on days I'm guaranteed to get wet!).

Good luck finding the right shoes -- for comfort and to stay out fashion prison :woohoo: :woohoo:

Teva sandals and sneakers :thumbsup2 and then some "dress up" shoes for going out to dinner

Have a great time

Well, my mom usually wears strap-on sandals and sneakers, and my dad just sneakers.

And I just wear sneakers. :teeth:

Love, love, love my Teva Mush flip flops. I do carry Crocs, Reefs, and even other Tevas, but usually wind up in my Teva Mush flip flops. I can wear them all day and never think about my feet.

We all (DH, DS5, DS2 & myself) wear Nike Strap on Sandals (can't remember their exact name). They are awesome and in my opinion more comfortable than Tevas. The straps are softer than the Tevas.

Birks for me, DH has an earth shoe type sandal he likes and his sneakers.
Flipflops for the pool and water rides like Kahli River Rapids.

Flip flops for me - usually Columbia with a sneaker type sole for park days, usually dressier sandals for dinners. I always make sure they have been well worn so I don't get any blisters. My husband typically wears tennis shoes on park days, sandals in the evenings, flip flops for the pool.

I used to wear my Teva's also...very comfy but got worn out. I bought some new Merrell sandals...lime green actually! They even have extra cusion padding around your heel. They are SO comfy and worth the money.

I know you said you don't like Crocs, but we wore ours every day of our trip in October. It rained every day, so the Crocs were perfect. Keens work out well too. I'd go for something cool, lightweight, and waterproof. I would definitely not wear sneakers - way too hot and they take forever to dry out.

Champion brand flip flops from Payless..... they have a thick cushiony sole and also a great arch to them. Very comfortable. DD has a pair too! I also have a Keds pair that are very similar but a little heavier shoe.........gotta let those puppies breathe when it is HOT!!!!!

I think it totally depends on your particular foot/knee/back needs. I run on a treadmill, but my running sneakers torture my arches if I wear them at WDW. Strangely, the less supportive the shoe, the longer I can go in it. In the past, I wore the thinnest, squishy flip flop I could find or Converse All Stars. And I'll always switch shoes halfway through a long day at the parks.
But I just got my first Crocs and may have found my dream WDW shoe! We'll see...

DH will be wearing his tevas I know and bringing nice shoes for when we go out just the two of us for a nice dinner and probably tennis shoes (not sure he'll wear them that much though). For me it's sneakers all the way and my new skechers mesh sandals. DD will just wear her tennis shoes since she will be 1.5yrs old.

I hate how tevas feel, but DH loves them to death!! (literally I have to get him a new pair cuz his old ones stink!!)

I used to wear sneakers and coolmax socks and moleskins but still got blisters and then I discovered great walking sandals.

I wear Teva Pretty Rugged leather sandals and they are GREAT! No more blisters.

I also sometimes wear the Teva Pretty Rugged nylon (waterproof) sandals which are also comfortable but prefer the leather.

I try and alternate shoes so my feet get a break from the same shoe day in an day out and also in case of rain.

I wear any type of Tevas that I have ~ I love them ~ light, airy, all-day comfortable, and can get drenched and still be fine! I always have to remember, however, to use sun block on the tops of my feet as they have been burned in the Florida sun before with them on. I also like Nike ACGs ~ they provide a little more support, if you need that in a sandal...

:cool1:

I take four pair of shoes.

1 - keens - newport
1 - columbia sandals
1 - slides - mornings, after park and to the pools
1 - water shoe - water parks & for kali rapids

I rotate the keens and columbia each day, regardless of when I go. I only wear a solid shoe (merrell mocs) in the dead of winter in Michigan.

Nike Ceso flip flops for the whole family. Made of Neoprene, so they dry quickly if they get wet. I also have worn the Nike Straprunners, but like the flip flops better.

We are going next week and are taking our Keens. All 4 of us just got them this summer. I tried them out at Six Flags to see how walking ALL DAY would do and they were absolutely wonderful. I love them because they are sandal-ish, but closed toe and they dry fairly easily. I bought body glide to put on my feet each day to ward off blisters. Got that tip from a DISer earlier.
