What shaped wedding cake did you have/would you like?

We went for the traditional round cake, made by my MIL, a family tradition, and decorated by my SIL.

Ours was traditional and round. However, our best friends cake was a 3-D, tsanding Emperor penguin. Also, it had raspberry filling, so when you cut into it there was "blood". The latter effect was unintentional...but funny.

Our cake was three dimensional. It was shaped like a church!

Ours was called the Mad Hatter cake. It was for our Disneyland wedding.

I found out that years later, WDWFTW also offered a Mad Hatter but they don't look the same.

We didn't have cake. My friend, who is a caterer, made my favorite dessert that I had dubbed, "Heaven in a Bowl." It's cut up cake, pudding, ice cream topping, whipped cream, and nuts. I caught my sister licking the bowl at the end of the party.

Ours was supposed to be heart shaped on the bottom with round layers on top. However, the hotel where our reception was messed up and gave us a cake that we did not order. It was HUGE. All of the layers were round. We were supposed to have strawberry filling but instead got raspberry but I love raspberries so it was OK.

Others were upset about the mix-up but for me, it was no big deal. We didn't pay for it (it was included in our package since we got married on a Friday night). The cake looked fine and was over twice as big as the one we had ordered. It fed over 300 people! The banquet staff wrapped the extras so that the guests could take home extras if they liked.

The bottom layer was square; the middle layer as hexagonal; then came the columns to hold the round topper layer.

Hey - this was 17 years ago. Pretty cutting edge then!
