do you find yourself glues to the tv when there doing a thingie on them "

Manson- his eyes are so cold
Zodiac - havent caught him
BTK - he seems so normal

I have to say this is the oddest DIS board thread title I've ever seen. :lmao:

Never really followed a lot of serial killers, but I have read a few true crime books. The one who I most wanted to see justice served was the woman about 20 years back who shot her 3 children, killing 1 and permanently disabling another. She claimed she had been carjacked and even shot herself in an attempt to fool the police, but it was quickly uncovered she shot the kids because her married lover didn't want children. She was a crazy awful person and it was her daughter, the one she disabled, who ended up testifying against her and sealing her fate to life in prison. I believe she actually escaped from prison after that. The book was called Small Sacrifices and I think there was also a TV movie with Farrah Fawcett playing the lead role.

I don't know if he is considered a serial killer...But I am strangely facinated with Jim Jones. Really any cult leader and their members, but he really sticks out to me. When I hear a clip of his, "White night..." broadcasts it sends shivers down my spine.

I will watch stuff on Jim Jones also, these dark people fascinate me into what was there thinking ? what went wrong ? were they that way from birth ?

I am captivated by serial killers.

Jeffrey Dahmer: I recall watching a show where I think it was Stone Phillips was interviewing him and his dad.

Another show, even though he wasn't I considered a "serial killer 'but he was a hit man named the Iceman, HE gave me chills.

These guys look so normal-well Manson looks wild now, but the pictures of him back then he looks like a normal "hippy". Ted Bundy, yea he looked scary, not part of his "charm" was that he was what considered nice looking.

Aileen Wornous: Her life before killing was so sad,,not saying that gave her an ok, but it was just sad.

Jim Jones was more of a "mass murderer" he also gave me the chills even seeing a documentary today, his followers just wanted to have a paradise on Earth and look what they got.

JOhn Wayne Gacy: he was a freakin clown at kid's birthday parties.
BTK: how unassuming he looked. he gave me chills talking so matter of factly about what he had done with no expression what so ever on his face.

It's their personalities and followers that get me.

Maybe because I KNOW how the story ends, but I always wonder, "WHAT do these people SEE in him?" It is MIND BOGGLING to me that ONE man can control SO MANY people.

I can't even say he was charismatic and all of that other mumbo jumbo that people say about cult leaders. He just repluses me...And yet...I can't look away.

None, I'm not particularly fond of them. :rolleyes1

Not for nothing, but Manson never killed *anyone* let alone was a serial killer.

Sorry, carry on!

I seen that, hey Jeffrey Dahmer was from my city, he was another one who seemed normal

Not just "normal"...he actually was well spoken and sounded like someone I'd like to know.

The kooky thing is that a lot of serial killers "look" normal, so unassuming.

Not sure if he qualifies for serial killer status, but Unabomber. He was living out in the woods, he used to be a professor? who would have thought?

Richard Ramirez-Now his eyes are dead and cold.

Dahmer was normal, and was quite a nice guy. You know, aside from his particular predilictions and the results of same.

A few serial killers are really bonkers (I mean if we for the moment don't consider killing people bonkers on its face), but many are as normal as anyone with a fetish that most people don't know about.

*Obviously* most people don't harm others through their drives, and it's an entirely different deal when that's involved, but... yeah.

Aside from keeping a house full of body parts and cannibalism and trolling for people to kill and eat, Dahmer was a nice, normal guy, yes. I'm not being facetious. He also felt bad about what he did - he committed suicide in the end, really.

John Wayne Gacy and BTK are the ones I am most intrigued about. Anytime there is a TV show on about them I will watch. It is just amazing that on the outside they were able to appear so normal.

He didn't commit suicide, he was beaten to death by another inmate.

That was the method yes, but it was suicide, really. He - and I think everyone else too, when they moved him it seemed obvious that's how it'd end - knew that's what would happen if he was in the general population and he asked to be placed there.

Robert Pickton, there is still a lot going on surrounding the case but I know the family of one of the victims very well, and find the whole thing incredibly intriguing

Charles Cullen. He was my Dad's nurse while my Dad was in the hospital. I spoke to him a few times. My Dad was in the Hospital when he killed one of his patients.
My Dad fit the profile of someone he would have killed..in fact he was my Dad's nurse the night my Dad crashed.
We got my Dad's hospital records and the prosicutor (sp?)had Cullen look it over to see if he had indeed tried to kill my Dad..but he said no.

Ted Bundy

He seemed not only normal, but well spoken, very good looking, and charming.

I still clearly remember the TV mini-series of his story with Mark Harmon. Chilling
