What sandals would you bring to the parks?

I went to zappos.com to look around as recommened by my brother-in-law and it's a great site because they have all the brands you can think of and they have reviews, which is really helpful. I ended up settling on some Chaco Flip EcoTrend's and they are AWESOME. When I bought them, I wore them out of the store and have been wearing them around the house and out places. I have only had them for a little over a week and I already forget they are on my feet they are so comfortable. Supposively they are the only sandal with a Seal of Acceptance by the American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA).

They aren't the cheapest, but I believe well worth the money IMO. I plan to buy another pair soon.

I love my Reef "slap" thongs. No breaking in needed from the start. So comfortable and the have arch support. I also like my Teva "hurricane" sandals. I'll be switching back and forth between those and my sneakers.

I can't wear flip flops comfortably, never could..super flat feet, that may be it. Teva sandles with the strap over the top of the foot are comfortable enough for me to wear for a full day at the parks!!

So many shoes so little time. Ok heres what I have and have tried.

Keen Newport H2, talk about a workhorse I have had my first pair since Feb 2005 ( I checked) I have done everything you can imnagine in them from snow to water to mud to lawn mowing and they just won't die, wash them and they look almost new and the treads are in great shape still have them. Finally got tired of looking at the color and bought Keen Venice H2, love them also. Both have been to WDW and are great all day

Simple Castaway Flips, hate flips LOVE these have had them for over a year and they still look good. Have worn them to WDW good but not as good as the Keens

Teva Volterra, have never met a Teva I liked until these, I love these shoes, love them so much that I will be getting a second pair on clearance just in case. Haven't put them through the pain I have put my Keens through but I think they would be fine in all but the snow. These are great WDW shoes.

Mion Ebb Tide, wanted to love them, not so much, look is cute but weird. same problems with these that I have with crocs. They are good for pool shoes but I wouldn't want to spend a day in them.

Crocs, I understand some people swear by them and I have tried them, they make my knees and hips just ache after about 2 hours. All the shoes of this type just don't work for me.


If I had to choose just one for a WDW world trip I would probably go with the Tevas, just because there is less of them so cooler and lighter.

The Tevas and Simples are available on sale at Sierratradingpost.com. Keens can be found on sale sometimes there and sometimes rei and shoes.com. Sierratrading almost always has some sort of code.


DD9 and DH would both go with their Keen H2 as first choice. DD has Birkis, Crocs and Chaco. She likes them all but for WDW its the Keens.

If you got this far hope it helped someone. Best thing to do if you can do it is order a few you like from Zappos (love their shipping and return policy) and try them out.

My best Disney shoes were a pair of Wind River Sandals that were like Tevas but had no back on them. They were great for getting wet on the wet rides and very comfy! I think they key is that they had good, flexible arch support. I'm looking for something similar for this trip.

I bought the Skechers Stargaze and I have been breaking them in and they are sooo comfortable. I also bought the Adidas flip flops with fitfoam which feel really soft, but i also cannot wear flip flops all day because I have broken both of my feet. I am so hoping that the skechers hold out!!

I'll be wearing my Tevas. After reading a post on how good they were for the parks, I went out and bought some. I am currently breaking them in for my trip in May. They feel great so far. Bring on the parks! 18 days....

I just got some TEVAs too. They have more cusion than the ECOs I bought. I like the TEVAs much better.

I just bought a fitfoam Adidas flip-flops too! (Adidas Tareeva). But anyway, did you try the flip flops for park touring? For how long? How were they, especially when wet?

I'm going to WDW in Nov and plan to bring a pair of sneakers and a pair of flip-flops.

As for the sneakers, I think I'm bringing my Converse. I'm nervous as they're not really supportive and feel heavier than running shoes, but I just can't resist Chuck's style

And as for the sandals, I'm crossing fingers for the fitfoam Adidas. If they don't feel right, I MIGHT burn more cash for Teva Mush (but is it really worth it...?)

The thing is, I never really walked that many miles like in Disney. I live in flat shoes, and rarely do any activities in athletic footwear / sandals. So I'm not sure what shoes that would work for me

Whatever you do don't get crocs. I've heard stories of little kids getting their feet stuck in escalators and getting their toes all cut up. That would be a horrible way to spend your vacation

I suggest a pair of Addidas flip flops. They are really comfortable on your feet and you can wear them to the pool or whever you want to.

Y'know, I have heard these stories and seen the pictures and I still can't, for the life of me, figure out how this happens. I mean, you would HAVE to have your foot jammed against the step in front of you and how would you not feel the other step pressing down...? Anyway, all the park escalators like at POC are flat anyway
My family swears by our crocs for Disney. I even got my husband to wear them last year...and we all still have 10 good toes each.

I always hated flip flops until the DISers here persuaded me to get the Teva Mush. OMG I love them. I can literally wear them all day and they are still comfy comfy. Granted, I haven't done WDW in them yet, but a whole day at Adventureland and they were great.

Gonna bring my sneakers, too, but hoping that I can stay with the Tevas all week.

I bought the Adidas flip flops for the summer and loved them until they broke. The part between your toes broke right off. Then the same thing happened to my daughters pair the next day! They are very comfortable, but bring an extra pair just in case.

I wear old navy flip flops, which are very comfortable, but I would always bring sneakers that are broken in - never wear brand new shoes. You can also get moleskin to prevent blisters, which I use a lot when I'm walking in the parks.

I almost buy Havaianas for my upcoming Nov trip, but I settled with these instead:

Adidas Tareeva. So far so good. The fitfoam soles are soft and comfy, although they make my feet sweat a bit. But hey, I live in a humid, tropical island, don't I?

Also bought in-soles for extra cushion for my Chucks

I agree. I have no clue how it happens! Maybe it's only smaller kids because their feet are smaller. When I went in June I don't think I saw many escalators besides the flat ones. So it might not be a problem for Disney

You would think they would, but they're actually really really comfortable. I've gotten them wet loads of times, and never had any problems, and I get blisters really easily. They're actually really soft, and the thong doesn't rub at all. I love them. But, everyone has different feet, a lot of people love the Old Navy flip flops, and I can't stand them.
