am going to book for just my DH and I for a trip in January of 2009. Probably 1/8-1/13. It will be to celebrate my 40th birthday!!!! Anyway it will be out first time without kids, and I would love to stay and eat in a romantic setting. I'd love some opinions! I hope to run the 5k at DAK on the 9th, and my actual birthday is the 11th.

I've always found Narcoossee's to be very romantic, and then you can pop out and watch Wishes too. California Grill is also more adult-oriented, but it's getting very popular with families lately. Citricos at the GF, Todd's Bluezoo at the Swan or Dolphin and Jiko at AK are also very nice.

I think romantic is getting harder to find on property.......Artist Point, I could add to the list as it is subdued lighting and decent service, food is good...not a lot of children there. Citrico's is a personal favorite of mine, but I would say it was a bustling Mediterranean style restaurant....but a window seat would be awesome and little more private...

What a wonderful way to spend your 40th... Have a great time.

We have Citricos booked for our "official" anniversary dinner  (2 days before the actual date because it's the last night of our trip). We booked Citricos based on recent reviews about the food and that it's one of the more of an adult atmosphere. It's difficult at Disney to really dine in an adult atmosphere unless you have the big bucks for V&A's. From what I've been reading, I think Citricos might be the closest to that.

California grill and Narcoossees were close contenders too but seem to have more kids and a louder atmosphere. Check the menues on this site too, that will give you an idea of which you may prefer based on the cuisine.

Hi There,

I have eaten at Artist Point, Jiko and the Brown Derby. Of the three I would give higher recommendations to Artist Point and Jiko. My favorite is Artist Point due to the style of food, and the restaurant ambiance. That being said, my husband's favorite is Jiko for the same reasons!

For a bit less pricey I would recommend Chefs de France in EPCOT. We had eaten there at the first available seating and were given a window table. We've been to Paris before and this really gives you a glimpse into the beauty of just watching the world while eating the French cuisine.

Le Cellier is another favorite.

If by romantic you mean kid free--it won't happen except at V&A. But almost any of the Signature restaurants are nice. CItrico's and Bistro D' Paris are probably the most quiet, with Blue Zoo and Il MUlino also often relatively kid free.

DH and I are going alone in a few months. For nicer meals we have California Grill and Il Mulino planned. One night we plan to just get munchies (nachos & wings) in a resort lounge before meeting friends for a night at Jellyrolls. Our other must do meal for this trip is Yak & Yeti, but thats because we know we wouldnt go there with the kids as they wouldnt eat anything there.

We have 1 breakfast planned at Captains Grill and another day for lunch we may just go to the Tune Inn Lounge for appetizers and drinks.

While the idea of romance is nice, I'm trying to get a balance of that and things we wouldnt do with the kids. To me anything without the kids can be somewhat romantic....or at least quiet and relaxed. ;)

My DH and I are going for the 1st time in 13 years without our kids. The last time we were there alone was our Disneymoon. Here are the places we are trying:

1. Chefs de France
2. California Grill(timed to see Wishes)
3. Narcoossee’s(timed to see Wishes)
4. Breakfast in Bed (one morning)

On our Disneymoon we went to Brown Derby and I remember that being very nice.

My wife and I just got back from our honeymoon. For our last night we ate at the California Grill. We both feel that it was the best meal we've ever had. The view from the top of the Contemporary is also the best you can get. We got their a little too early for Wishes, but our server said that wecould come back up for the show if we wanted to. We decided not to. The whole staff made us feel very special being that it was our honeymoon. They even took our picture and emailed it to us.

California Grill Hands Down

1) California Grill
2) Citrico's
3) Jiko
4) Narcoossee's

We enjoyed ALL of these on our honeymoon!!!

I guess we'll have to give the California Grill another try someday because we've never had a good experience there.

We had a pleasant surprise at Yachtsman's Steakhouse. DH and I had a last minute, one-day trip and were not able to get our 1st or 2nd options for an anniversary dinner. We tried the Steakhouse. We were seated next to a window by the pool, which I wasn't thrilled with. But then when Illuminations started, we could see the fireworks from our table. It was nice. The staff was very attentive and the food was delicious. We hope to wrangle another night out in the future to go back to this restaurant.

I would have to say that Cali Grill, and Jiko would be amazingly nice, but last time I went to Le Cellier it was pretty quiet, well not quiet empty but not like there were kids everywhere!! All Chefs De France which I saw mentioned up there a few other times, it is really really nice and also not many families since the food is not as appealing to them as normal.

DH and I recently went to Narcossee's for our anniversary. I would definitely go again.
