What rides to skip?

Please do not skip Small World at DLR it is the original ride from the World's Fair! Also storybook canal is a real cute ride.

Yeah, I would not skip BTMR or Small World, they do have differences (and BTMR is always so fun!)

Also a frequent WDW-er, headed to DLR for the first time in two months (Yay!). This thread is super helpful.

Question - how does BTMR compare to WDW in terms of 'scare factor'. Our DD just turned 6, and just started 'real' rollercoasters over xmas, so trying to decide if she can go on it. If any of you happen to know Canada's Wonderland, she can do Thunder Run no problem.

It's not too intense, but sit towards the front/middle for a less intense ride. The back is a bit wilder.

DL's BTMRR has the same "thrill" as WDW's. The que is much different, as are some of the on ride visuals. Those two things for the most part are what separates them. They are similar but definitely not the same.

DLs is MUCH smoother because it had a whole track replacement several years ago. In addition, the entire track layout is a reversal of WDWs, which is interesting. The final climb scene has great TNT special effects, projections, an explosion, etc. It is far better than WDWs version.

It has more "thrill" than Thunder Run. More ups and downs, as others have said, the thrill factor is the same as WDW BTMR. Longer than Thunder Run as well.

BTMRR at DL is much more enjoyable than WDWs. It's smoother and a bit less "wild."

Ask to sit up front and it's very mild. The CMs are great about seating requests.

It was both my son's first "real" coasters.

Good to know. She didn’t find thunder run very thrilling so I think this is the next step up. I think Matterhorn looks fine too, not sure about SM.

I think SM is around the same tbh. The difference is that it's dark and has more turns (not steep turns) than ups-and-downs. It feels faster, but I'm not sure if it actually is.

The darkness aspect of SM might be too much for some kids. I know it took some coaxing when my younger one was 6. She loved it though and this was the WDW version. At least with DLR, you can hold hands and be next to each other.

My son did Matterhorn at 5 and hated it. It is VERY rough. My other son didn't try until he was closer to 9 and he also hated it. They are now 18 and 16 and they still hate it. It's just not an enjoyable ride for our family. It's so rough that it's actually painful. The Yeti is also kinda scary in there for a kid.

I'd say start with the Gadget Coaster in Toontown. Then Big Thunder. Then Goofy's Sky School at DCA. Then Space Mountain. Then Incredicoaster if she's feeling bold and is tall enough.

Here's what you do at DCA. Start at Incredicoaster. Ride it at rope drop. Ride it 2-3 times. Then go around the Pier in a clockwise fashion and get a LL for Guardians. Make your way over to Guardians. Get an ILL for Spiderman. Ride it and move on to Cars Land. Get an ILL for Radiator Racers. Ride Mater and Luigi on standby. Get a LL for Soarin and ride next. Hit Monster's Inc. At that point you've done everything in DCA. Skip DCA's Kali River Run unless you really want to get soaked. Come back and do Guardians at night. Walk around Avengers Campus and Cars Land at night. Get a reservation at Carthay Circle. Take in World of Color.
What is standby.

DFB just recently posted a video comparing similar rides at DL and WDW.
Might be a good watch!

From a speed perspective, I'm pretty sure that Big Thunder Mountain is the fastest. But Space Mountain has sharper turns and a sudden drop in the dark so it "feels" more thrilling. Matterhorn is probably the least thrilling of the three but really jerky.
