I am wondering which rides are a must and which can be skipped. I have a 6 year old daughter. Wondering for her and me.
thanks Diane

Well you can skip Tower of Terror and Aerosmith's Rock n' ROller Coaster, unless you both like thrill rides. THe Great Movie Ride isn't one of my favorites, but don't miss the Little Mermaid or Fantasmic. You may or may not want to skip Star Tours- you're sitting down and not moving, but it's a simulation.

skip TOT and RNR...that's insane.... :rotfl2:

Unless she's a fan of old movies, I'd skip the Great Movie Ride. My younger kids didn't "get it" at all. I'd skip Playhouse Disney too. Too much of a cattle call. But DON'T miss The Little Mermaid Show. That's my favorite thing at the studios.

I love Rnr ToT but your 6 year old may not lol!!!!So skip those unless she loooves roller coasters and skip the great movie ride...if you get there at opening and skip those you will practically have the park to yourself for an hour or so since everybody runs to those first  so have great time!

Tower of Terror, Rock 'n' Roller Coaster, Star Tours, Muppetvision 3D, the new Lights, Motors, Action Extreme Stunt Show and Fantasmic! are all must-see's.

In myopinion, MGM is the best WDW park. I would not skip ANYTHING! RnR and ToT can be intense, but many young kids go on both of them. Just know your own daughter and what you think she can handle. ToT is just a big drop and RnR is just a fast rollercoaster with loops but no drops. I don't understand why people say skip the Great Movie Ride. I think it is so fun and I think a 6 year old would enjoy the scenes--- especially Wizard of Oz. I hope that helped!
Have a great trip!!!! :flower:

My son was 3 when we went, so he was a little younger, but do not skip Muppet Vision 3 D, Little Mermaid and Playhouse Disney if you have a little one. Yes, you sit on the floor in Playhouse Disney and little kids are jumping around, but they are having the best time!

And don't miss Rock N Roller Coaster or TOT. Do the baby swap if you have to.

And Fantasmic.

We also enjoyed the Beauty and the Beast show.

How tall is your dd? My dd is 8 years old and an inch too short for RnR:sad2: so, that ride may not be an option for your dd either.

Skip "Sounds Dangerous", unless you really need to get out of the sun.

The air conditioning is its only redeeming feature. You sit in the dark with head phones on and listen to noises. Drew Carey offers little to no humor. Its not frightening, repulsive or anything like that - its just a waste of time. I have no idea what Disney Imagineers were thinking of when they threw this turkey together.

Everything else at MGM is great.

Tower of Terror is considered by many to be the greatest amusement park ride in the world. Let your 6 yr old try it. My 5 yr old didn't like it, but then again he was frightened by the Minnie Mouse character at Chef Mickeys.

The Great Movie Ride is one of my families favorites. I would not skip it!! we took our 4 1/2 y.o. neice and she loved ToT and begged to go on RnR but was too small.

I think since you have a six year old daughter I would recommend seeing Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid and the Muppet 3-D Show. I have two daughters and they love all of these shows. I wouldn't recommend TOT or the Aerosmith rollercoaster. You might also like the parade. Hope that helps.

A little OT please........could you tell me what the little mermaid show is. It is a live action show, 3D? We usually skip it because I'm always with boys. I saw something in the planning video that made me think there is more to it.

Could someone explain it to me. Thanks!

It is live action and puppets. They also use special effects like laser light to make it look like you are beneath the ocean.

The Little Mermaid show is part live/part puppets -- similar in style and tone to the old Lion King show they used to have in the Magic Kingdom (where Mickey's PhilharMagic is now.)

Ariel herself, and her prince, are played (and sung) by real actors, the rest are elaborate puppets. There are some nice effects -- you actually FEEL water spray you! -- and some of it is done with black light. It's a pleasant and entertaining little break from the sun. My wife and I never miss it.

I loved Tower of Terror-my DS7 and DD6 came off crying.I asked them what they would skip if they went back-Tower of Terror and Who Wants To Be A Millionare. They both liked Rock n Rollercoaster.

I love MGM.....

I say give TofT a try if she enjoys wilder rides...it really is THE best! My six year and nine year olds LOVED it, but my 4 yr. old said once was more than enough! ;)

If she's tall enough for Rock n Roller coaster...give it a thought (if she enjoys Tower of Terrror)....

Star Tours is fun!

The Backlot tour is pretty cool, too...

Don't miss "Lights, Motors, Action"....or "Indiana Jones"...they are both very loud and lots of fire and action...but fun, too!

Movie Ride was boring to us (and a little scary to my youngest (4))...anything with guns scares her and there was a shootout (with real actors)....

Mupptets is GREAT

Little Mermaid is a DON'T MISS

Beauty & The Beast was very nice, also...

Who Wants To Be a Millionaire was fun for everyone in our group (there were 9 of us total ages 4-40) except my six year old....he was close to tears when it was over, because he didn't win....lol...poor guy....but it's a great hot day break and several of the 'hot seat' contestants were young (12-15).

(I'm in the EXTREME minority here...b/c Fantasmic just wasn't worth the wait, imo).....lots of noise and water (on a cool evening...NOT a bonus, lol)...It was neat...but I couldn't imagine wanting to see it again (especially with the wait/crowds).....eh..different strokes, ya know?

Have a great time!!!!
