Which rides are extra special at night and why?
Last minute planning happening here...:yay:

Jungle cruise is better in the dark. So is Story book. Dumbo and any of the rides that are outside rather than all indoor are fun in the dark because you can see all the lights.
I'm sure I'm missing some...but I think others will chime in. :wizard:

In addition to the ones already mentioned, Matterhorn and Big Thunder are also cool at night.

TOT is creepier at night and California Screamin is awesome in the dark.

I think all of the outdoor rides take on a different feel at night. But be sure to do them during the day as well so you can make the comparison.

California Screaming is amazing at night. It feels like your going faster for some reason. Big Thunder is really cool at night. Specially when the fireworks are going off.

Also Pirates at night is really amazing. Because your going in when its dark, the whole ride is like inside but the sky effects are made to look like its at night time, and when you get off the ride and leave the building its dark. So it kind of makes the pirate ride feel more realistic.

The Haunted mansion is also very cool at night. You think of scary movies and all the ghostly activities happen when the lights go down ;). So it gives the mansion a creepier edge.

i agree! i LOVE coming off of POTC when it's dark outside, especially if it's cold out.

the outdoor coasters seem faster at night to me, too. especially BTMRR...we used to have AP's and would go after work a LOT in the winter months. i swear BTMRR is faster at night when it's cold. almost scary fast!! definitely enough to notice.

everything at DL is fun at night, lol. hanging out in adventureland is my favorite, with the tiki torches and jungle music....jungle cruise is awesome at night. but really, everything seems a little more fun when the sun goes down and the lights come on.

:)

We rode Splash Mt. for the first time in the dark this past week and it was great, we happened to be going around the bend as the fireworks were going off and that was pretty neat.

I'm very big on Matterhorn and Screamin at night. They both seem to be a little faster and have amazing views at night.

PotC is fantastic at night because the 'cones' in your eyes have very nicely adjusted when you walk around outside prior to getting on the ride. A person can see far more things in the ride than when they ride in the day time. (Coming in from the bright day light, it takes a while for the cones in your eyes to adjust to the dark and by then the ride is over, lol.) My spouse and I both have noticed this many times, and always comment on it.

I also love riding TOT at night. If you have an oppurtunity to do so, please take advantage of it. There is nothing like the amazing view at night as you reach the top of the elevator shaft.

And what I love about Disney is that everyone has their favorites...

While I LOVE Disneyland at night, I always try to ride Jungle Cruise before darkness falls as I don't enjoy it as much at night. Try it day and night to decide for yourself.

Nothing beats the IASW exterior at night.

Supposedly, if you ride Jungle cruise at night, without any little kids in the boats, the jokes get a little more adult. Several people of told me this, but whenever I try to experience it, there is always small children in the boat with me.

On my last trip I went on Tower of Terror at night and boy was it good timing, when the doors opened up the fireworks just started going off in DL. Everyone went "oooo" and then we were dropped and came back up for some more "oooo's". Very cool experience, with ooo's and screams.

BTMRR is awesome if you can time it during fireworks as well!!
Also, as someone mentioned, the Storybook Boats are so pretty at night. We especially like when you go through Jasmine and Alladin's arches
