Hi, been looking at DLP site, and seen that pirates of the caribbean is ok for over 3's (but isnt that a bit scary????)

And the new finding nemo ride is only ok for over 7's?
Will have a four year old (nearly 5) and a one year old.

Just wondering what rides to plan ahead to go on, get fast passes too etc, rather then wondering around them all and asking etc (wasting time)
Also will have a baby with us, so what rides will we be able to go on as a collective family, I am guessing Its a small world would be one?

Any advice to write down in my little planning book be great!!! :cool1:

Hello,

The baby can go on most rides suitable for younger ones... My girls (6 and nearly 2) don't like the thrill rides so we stick to the calmer ones.

Your kids can go on:
- Small World
- Peter Pan (definitely use FP)
- Dumbo
- carousel
- Mad Tea Cups
- Autopia (the cars)
- Buzz (FP)
- you can explore the Alice's maze
- Casey Jnr
- the storybook boats (depending on the time you're going)

In WDS the older one can go on
- Cars (very spinny but great)
- Flying Carpets (great for all of you)
- see Stitch Live (great fun!)
- Animagic - fantastic for all ages

All in all, the baby can go on most rides with you... Maybe not on the big ones but definitely the ones I mentioned as we took DD2 wih us all the time except for Cars

HTH

I was there with 4, 3 and 2 year olds in February. POTC was scary for them (and me as I'm a bit of a scaredy cat too)
My 4 year old went on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad with DH and he LOVED it. We all went on the Cars ride and the various flying ones like Magic carpets and Dumbo (which we went on about 5 times)
And of course it's a Small World (I can hear the music now!!!!)
We rode the carousel loads of times too. They also did the Teacups.
And Pinnochio too.
I can't think of any more rides we did but we went to a lot of the shows and watched the parades.
There is so much even for weebies too.
Crush's coaster is for a lot older kids

Hope this is helpful to you.
If I remember anything else I'll let you know!

Yes we did Buzz Lightyear a LOT too. Me and DH have a thing going with this and he is one in the lead. Have to go back and make him pay!

My DD aged 5 wants to go on the fastest, wildest rides available.

She loved Space Mountain in Florida when we were there in October and will be gutted that she is too small for Space Mountain in DLP this September.

She's been on POTC loads of times, it is NOT scary.
She loved Crushes Coaster, she loves BTMR, she will be gutte if she is too small for the RnR.

I wouldn't pay too much attention to the age thing, its the height requirement thats important.

My DD was 7 and my DS was 3 when we went in feb and they LOVED the Pirates ride pirate: and my DS is not the bravest of children.

Every time we talk about returning, it is the first ride that they mention wanting to go on.

In honesty, we did not know anything about the ride before we went on it and i don't know if i would have been keen for them to go on just by reading the description of it but am glad we did it the way we did. It is pretty dark but there is so much going on that it distracts from what you assume will frighten them.

IMHO, give it a go. :thumbsup2

Wow, fantastic replies, thank you!
Think what i will do..is try out all the other ones and if he seems fine go on pocb pirate: !! But.. I dont think he will, as he very scared of the dark! But he may very well prove me wrong once he gets into the spirit of it all!! Thank you so much, writting that all down!!!

Exactly.
You know your child best. It's better to see how things go with other rides first.
Hope you have a great time.

sounds like you're having lots of fun planning your trip. We took our daughter on POTC last year when she was one and she didn't bat an eyelid, this time around (she had just turned two) she was fascinated ... probably didn't understand that much but there were no tears. We took her on POTC, PM with reassuring cuddles from mummy, teacups, dumbo, Snow White, Peter Pan, Flying Carpets, Buzz, the Carousel, etc ... the only one in her age range we didn't take her on was Cars, for me it spun a little too fast but I'm sure when we go back in October we'll give it ago then. Happy holiday planning :)

Thanks for the replies guys. I'm planning on a trip with my little man who would be around 17 months old when we went. I'm planning on taking him on rides such as POTC and PM and then seeing if he likes it when we are on there as all children are different.

I remember last time being onfront of an 8yr old and a 12yr old who spent the entire PM ride crying, screaming and trying to get off the ride as they were scared!!!

Hmmm, every child is different. We have been taking ours since they were 8 weeks old. As such, our now 5 year old (4 when we last went to DLP) rides everything he is tall enough for (so no Space Mountain, RNRC, Indy or Crush) He also does not like Armageddon or HISTA, but everything else is cool.

As for when they were 1, we would take them on:

The Train
Main Street Vehicles
Phantom Manor
Mark Twain/Molly Brown
Tarzan
PotC
All the fantasyland rides
Buzz
Lion King

In the Studios:

Flying Carpets
Animation
Tram Tour
Animagique
cinemagique
Moteurs Action

ah brilliant, so which rides would you recommend getting a fast pass too... both for children 4 and 1, and for us thrill searching mummy and daddy (who have granma on hand!!)!! and which rides are open in the magic hours in november?

Most of the rides in Fantasyland are open during the magic hours...

Brilliant list, thank you. I always forget about the Studios when I'm planning trips! Maybe becuase I went early in it's life and thought that it wasn't as good as the one in the USA so I have a slightly biased opinion

Fast passes are best used on Peter Pan and Big Thunder, they tend to have the worst queues. I imagine it will also be worth while for Tower of Terror as well.

Also, EMH attractions are subject to change, but traditionally most of Peter Pan, dumbo, the Carousel, and Tea Cups were open in FL with Buzz, Orbitron and Space Mountain being open in Discoveryland.

Once we got lucky and PotC, Indy and Big Thunder were also open, but that was when they had evening EMHs

In addition to Daves EMH list, either Snow White or the Pinocchio ride is also open in Fantasyland (neither of which my DD likes, as they are both dark). I'm still trying to persuade her onto POTC (*** she knows its dark) although each trip she is getting a bit braver :rotfl: .
