First trip for us and am wondering are there plenty of rides that younger kids can go on? We've seen splash mountain in the DW literature and she would honestly probably LOVE that! (She's my mini thrill seeker! LOL!) We have a cedar point amusement park near here and she can get on those type of rides here but not sure if she will be able to at disney.

Also what is the height requirement for kids? I have a 9 year old too (:

Thank you,

Kelle

You'll have plenty of choices, but you'll need to know your child's tolerance level for dark, noises, roller coasters (though many have height restrictions), etc. When my kids were younger, they were afraid of the Haunted Mansion and POC because of the dark, and really hated (still do) HISTA at Epcot. They loved Star Tours, BTMRR, and Goofy's Barnstormer. Peter Pan is great, but I'd avoid Snow White (scary witch jumps out at you), although others may disagree. Teacups were a big hit, more for them than us. Of course, Dumbo's great for the pre-school set, but get there EARLY as the lines quickly get out of control. AK's great for little ones, although I would recommend skipping the Dinosaur ride, and perhaps ITTBAB. Again, depends on your child's personality.

It's so much fun visiting WDW with the little ones. Have a blast!! :flower:

Here are all the ride restrictions:

We went with my 4yo dd in Sept. She loved the thrill rides WAY more then the "theme" rides. She loved TT & BTMRR. Splash was broken down :( so we did not get to ride it. She is very brave but did not really like HM or some of the other dark rides like Snow White. She did do them but I could tell she was kind of scared. She brought a glow necklace with her that she would put up to her eyes on the dark rides!! She absolutely hated the 3D shows (Mickey's Philharmagic) & would not wear the glasses at all once she saw the effects! She should have no problem on any of the rides that she qualifies for. Also, my dd4 LOVED EPCOT. We did not plan a lot of time there & wished we scheduled more. It was so relaxed & she loved doing the masks at the kidcot stations. She is very in to arts & crafts. We taught her how to say hello & thank you in each country's language & we made her a passport (you can buy one there) too to get stamped. We had lots of character interaction with princesses once the PSB let out. She liked the Norway & Mexico rides too. There was so much to do in EPCOT for kids that we did not even scratch the surface. Next time we'll plan at least 2 days! Silly us for believing all those people who said it was a boring educational place. It is now probably our favorite park!!
Other things the 4yo liked: penny presses, getting character autographs & pin trading. Your 9yo will probably like this too!
Have a great time!!

Ah yes, I remember Cedar Point fondly growing up (I am from suburban Detroit). I remember when Gemini was brand new!!! Bet it's changed a lot!!

My 5 yr old hit the 40 inch mark for our Dec 2003 trip. He as able to ride Dinosaur, BTMRR, ToT, SM. He likes the thrill rides at well and every time we go to Universal he asks if he is big enough for the Hulk yet, lol.

My 4 year old daughter is tall for her age and I was shocked that she was 44 inches to the tee!! She did get on a couple of those rides where you had to be 44 inches (the calmer ones) and just loved them. She also enjoyed the 3-D movies though she got startled a couple times at first when it looked like things where coming at her.

Just back from trip with DS who is 4. He loved Test Track and Kali Rapids, but absolutely hated Dinosaur. Unfortunately for us, ride broke down about 30 seconds into the ride and there we were in total darkness with these roaring dinos and the car keeps bumping back and forth like it's still going over rough terrain. He's starting to freak out, and it does start to get a little disorienting sitting in the pitch black with all this going on. And to top it all off, this happens not once, but twice!!!
Needless to say, this set the precedent for all dark rides to come. Had to use the chicken exit on the Haunted Mansion. I was shocked we actually got him to go on POC. Just use your better judgement. You know your childs personality better than anyone.
