I've just found out that I am pregnant and I go to Disneyland in 13 days. (13 June -17 June). I'm only a few weeks, I was wondering if anyone has been to Disneyland before while they were pregnant, what kind of rides did you go on?

Im going with my niece for her 7th birthday, my sister and my fiance.

Hopefully, I can go on most of the rides with my niece for her birthday.

Hi sarahy2jmad, welcome to the DIS :welcome: and congratulations!!! :goodvibes

I think it will just be the coasters and Star Tours that you will have to avoid.

Just found this thread here. :)

Thank you for the warm welcome. I'm really gutted that I can't go on the rollercoasters the rock n rollercoaster is my favourite one. I took my fiance in October last year for his 21st birthday, it was really quiet because we went when all the kids were at school and we managed to go on the rock n rollercoaster 20 times in a row, it was that quiet.

does anyone know what the new crush's coaster is like. Would I be able to go on that?

Thanks

Congratulations & welcome to the board:yay:

It is stated to have a 50ft drop (I think) and maximum speed of 37mph. It doesn't go upside down though. I will be able to let you know after Saturday as i'm & several others are going to the shareholders event for this.

I wouldn't have thought so. It looks like it's similar to BTM ie quite fast and twisty and with the lapbars it would be a nono.

Ok, never mind, I guess it's an excuse to come again soon. I'm trying to get in touch with the Midwife to see what her opinion is in relation to the different types of rides before I go.

It's sort of a spinny one, u go on a mini rollercoaster (altho really just a light, kids one) and spin in the pod at the same time....i'm unsure whether you'd be able to go on it. it doesn't seem too heavy and intense though

I think you are taking a very sensible aproach. Always better to err on the cautious side :goodvibes

Hello,

There arer signs outside the rides that clearly indicate whch
rides should take caution when one is pregnant. You can also
read the guides that are provided at the gates entering the
parks.

If I were pregnant (That's a FAT chance, since I'm a man), I
wouldn't take a chance on taking a risk. I'd want my baby to
be healthy so that the next time I wantefd to go tyo Disneyland,
I'd have a happy little one enjoying his or her days at Disneyland.

So think ahead and enjoy whatever safe rides or attracrtions you
can. And there are plenty to choose from.

Good luck with your pregnancy, too.

Hello... my sister in law found out she was pregnant just before out dec trip, she asked cast memebers what was suitable rides and was told which she could and counldnt go on. Her midwife told her the rides that needed to be avoided were bumpy and rides that may involve a car/boat bumping you from behind. She was told that in the early stage you need to be careful about the placenta coming away from the wall and this puts you at a higher risk on rides that have bumps from behind! Having said that she went in Small world and everything was fine, she is now 33 weeks gone and we cant wait to take our new little nephew to DLP for his first trip this year :)

Have a fun trip :wizard:

Thank you for all your fantastic advice. I will be good lol and go on the smaller rides with my niece. After all we are going for her birthday. I can't wait to see her face when she sees the castle, all the rides and the characters.

Before 12 weeks of pregnancy your uterus is still small enough to be completely in your pelvis, and therefore very well protected so it would be highly unlikely that any of the rides would cause a problem. I think Disney (and other companies) recommend you don't ride certain rides during pregnancy to protect themselves from litigation as much as for your safetly. I don't know of any research on what sort of ride is safe during pregnancy. I doubt ethical approval would be given. I'd say it's down to you. I would doubt you'd be putting yourself at any risk if you are in the first trimester, however you've got to think how you would feel if you did suffer any bleeding or miscarriage following the trip - would you blame yourself?

POC, Small World, etc will all be fine though. You'll still be able to have a great time even if you avoid the 'wild' rides.

We originally booked to go to DLRP for June of 2003. Booked it in the February, then hubby came home for R&R (in forces), and I fell pregnant. I would have been 4.5 months pregnant by the time we went and knew I wouldn't be able to join in on so many of the things I desperately wanted to so we cancelled. I was well gutted as it was meant to be my 25th birthday present. Instead we spent a very wet week in a caravan in dorset, NEVER again!
But, here we are 4 years on and we are going in September with our precious little fella, and we all can't wait!
I guess if you choose carefully you should be ok, it's all about what you feel comfortable doing as someone else said.

Thanks for all your advice. Im still looking forward to the trip. i will just go on the less "wild" rides.
