Since we're only at DL/DCA for two days, we'll be in a rush to see as much as possible. What rides/attractions are carbon copies of each other at both locations? For starters, I believe Soarin' and of course, Dumbo is the same at both parks. What else?

That's a hard question. I don't know of many that are exactly identical! Even our Dumbo is different, much prettier in my opinion, since it flies over water instead of plain cement. So the main ride is the same but there are differences. Teacups are the same but ours are not covered, we have the cool lanterns strung up top in the open sky. Our Buzz is similar but different because you can move the gun. I can't think of hardly any that are exactly the same! Sorry that probably doesn't help you much!

Obviously you want to make sure you hit the ones DW doesn't have: Matterhorn, Mr. Toad, Alice, Storybookland, Indy, even the Autopia and Toontown is quite a bit different though with Roger Rabbit. I would just fastpass as much as you can and try to ride as many as possible. We have been able to do almost every single ride in two days time, so if you can be there most of the hours the parks are open, you should be okay!

Have a great trip!

I can't comment on which are the same, but I can say that Tower of Terror and Space Mountain are notably different.

Soarin', Star Tours, It's Tough to Be a Bug, Muppet Vision 3D, and Honey I Shrunk the Audience are pretty much the same. Everything else will have noticable differences.

Yep, and I'd add to that Haunted Mansion, they are slightly different but not enough to really need to ride IMO.

I can't say that ANY of the rides are the same. The film attractions will be identical but the surroundings are different, especially with TTBAB.

They both have a stretching room and they looked the same, what's the difference? I've been on both versions within the past 2 months, and yes there were a few minor differences in the ride, I didn't think it was a big enough difference to worry about riding that specific one...

You guys have been great in answering these questions. Thank you so much for all your help. You're definitely making my planning easier :mickeyjum

It is my understanding that the attic has been changed at DL. The loading area is different. DL has the changing portraits!

Yes, the stretch room is different, but I not sure if the poster that made that comment means that one is actually an elevator and the other is not. ;)

The HM at DL has a stretching room that actually stretches - it's an elevator that goes down, then you walk through a hallway, where you see the paintings and busts, on your way to your Doombuggy. At WDW (to my recollection), from the stretching room you get right on the Doombuggy and go through the hallway with busts, etc.

Also, the DL version has the floating Madame Leota - not sure if WDW did this - and the attic scene has been reconfigured, so it's different.

IMO, Fantasyland at DL is far superior to WDW's. More rides and better versions of the rides. We were just at WDW last week and all agreed that Peter Pan and Small World are much better at DL. Snow White is about equal. Skip Pooh in Critter Country unless you absolutely adore him. The WDW version is great, the DL version is lame. Splash and Pirates tell the story so much better in DL. Thunder Mountain is better in DL as is Space Mountain after it's refurb. Fantasmic! in DL features Peter Pan and Captain Hook battling it out instead of Pocahantas and the Mark Twain Steamboat for the finale. And if you're going during the 50th celebration, you must see Remember, Dreams Come True. It's the best fireworks show I've ever seen.

dletz, looks like you got them all!

I come to share one tidbit of advice. IMO Indiana Jones is VERY worth it, but i love indiana jones so I may be biased :rotfl:
Try to get on this ride before it breaks down for the day! and/or grab a fast pass when you can that way if it does breakdown, they'll let you honor the pass when it opens back up.

I, too, noticed a big difference in the HM ride of WDW and DL. Definitely a "must see" at both. :thumbsup2

I wanted to chime in the TOT is different at both parks, too. IMHO, the DCA version is better. I second the comments on the HM too. I would make a point to ride it at DL. I also prefer POC at DL...more similar to DL Paris than to WDW.

Have a great trip!

I'm printing this thread out for our trip in less than two weeks. (and counting!) :)

The Haunted Mansion in Disneyland underwent some major changes last year when the HMH overlay was removed. Leota now floats above her table, and there have been other changes to the seance room. Also, the changing portrait hallway was revamped. This year they are making some changes to the storyline, portraying the bride as a Black Widow. This includes changes to the attic, and a rumored return of the Hatbox Ghost.

What the DL Mansion doesn't have is the Sinister 11 portrait gallery, the music room, and the spiders.

But in general the DL Mansion has been receiving a lot of TLC recently, which the WDW Mansion has not. It's a definite "must do".

I think that It's a Small World is one of the biggest differences. I was so shocked at WDW's. It is in a little building. I loved both rides, but it just wasn't the same. DL is a huge, beautiful building. When we were at DL in the fall, we watched the fireworks and show on IASW. It was almost as good as on the castle. The Castles are also different.

IMO DL is the BEST!!!!! :wizard:

The DL version's elevators go down and you walk through a hall because you are walking below the R.R. tracks as the show building is beyond the berm, (same as Pirates).

In the WDW version the elevators are stationary and the walls in the stretching room move as the whole building is inside of the tracks.
