I hope you can all give me a little advice. DH and I are thinking about adding another little one to our brood. We have 3 beautiful boys 8,7 and 3 and think maybe a princess would be nice (of course, we would be just as happy with another pirate ;) ) Here is where the much needed advice comes in...

I already have a trip to the world planned for Feb. 07. This is an "over the hump" trip for my boys, as Daddy will be on deployment. I will be travelling with my boys, my MIL, my SIL and her DH and my DNephew. I will also be somewhere between 20 - 25 weeks along.

What rides/activities would you avoid? Are there any rides that a CM would tell me I coudn't do, even if I wanted ie: Soarin? Of course I would never do anything to jeopardize my baby, but a friend mentioned that I only had to avoid the "Big 5 rides" and I thought that number was a little low.

What rides/activities have you done pregnant?

Thanks for all the help and advice. :sunny:

Well, congrats on adding a new member to your family! We are trying too, for our 3rd! I have a trip planned for Nov and expect to be 3 months along. I have been to WDW at that same time with DD, 8 years ago! It is alot on your body, all the walking so I had to make sure I drank alot and took lots of breaks. There are plenty of benches and nice rides/attractions with AC. That helps alot! All the rides have warnings posted if pregnant woman shouldn't ride. Obviously the coasters like Space Mnt. and RnRC. Also, ToT, Splash Mtn, BtMRR, Mission Space, Test Track, Safari ride at AK. You can do a search on these forums because this subject has come up alot! You should be able to find alot of info. Here's a link to some info on Deb's site:

The great thing about WDW is that there are more attractions than thrill rides. So, there are plenty of things for children and pregnant woman to do!

I went on alot of things and did not feel as if I was missing out.
Good luck and have a great trip!

You can absolutely do Soarin' when you are pregnant. I was 8 months pregnant in Disney last year and I loved Soarin'. One of the best rides. I avoided the rollercoasters (obviously) and didn't do the Winnie the Pooh ride either. I didn't ride Test Track or Body Wars or Star Tours or any of the real obvious ones that a pregnant woman shouldn't go on. Skipped Kilmanjaro Safari and Kali River Rapids too. Other than that I went on everything else and had a blast. Congratulations to you!!!

Okay, here is a question. I am getting conflicting info regarding Splash. Is this a "yes" or "no"? I would think it would be okay (with Dr's permission of course) b/c you really just have the large drop with no real bouncy around.

I have no problem avoiding the biggies, b/c my DNephew will only just have turned 2 and I can happily stay with him while the others ride. However, I would hate to miss Splash. I will abstain, of course, if the Dr. says it is a no-no.

Anyone with experience on Splash, and Killamanjaro Safarie for that matter, while pregnant?

Thanks again for all the help.

I went when I was about five months pregnant and did go on Splash, with my doctor's approval. I was fine. I am going in 28 days and will be 21 weeks and due to the weather will just go with the flow our son is two so I will be more than happy to sit rides out. Congrats on the new addition!

The best thing you can do is talk to your doctor before you go. :) I'm pregnant with our 3rd as well. We went when I was 15/16 weeks and I had the doctor's OK to ride anything I wanted to save for Mission Space and RnR. Other than that, she said I was fine to ride anything else provided that my bump didn't interfere with the restraint system (which at 15/16 weeks it didn't but at 32 weeks, it would have). She added that she personally would skip ToT as well but that it would probably be OK. I told her that wasn't really an issue, that all I was really thinking of were Splash, Thunder and Test Track...the only things I could think of off hand that my DSs would want to do that would have a restriction sign and that my mother (who was with us on the trip and in an ECV) either couldn't or wouldn't do. The doctor gave an enthusiastic "oh yeah...those are fine!" response so I did all 3 with no problems. She said baby was so small and well protected at that point that those rides would be fine. We had been planning to go back when I would have been 32 weeks (trip planned before I got pregnant) and she did say that on that trip I should avoid anything with a warning (except for the safari and Splash...she did OK those) and anything that my tummy would block the restraint system. We ended up cancelling that trip because I figured I would just be too uncomfy in the heat.

You'll fell better if you get a personalized answer from your doctor. They will know how your pregnancy is going and can give you the best advice. The biggest thing my doctor warned me about was staying hydrated. She said to be drinking a ton of water because if I waited till I was thirsty, it was too late and I was already in the early stages of dehydration. Since dehydration can trigger contractions, best to avoid that.

Good luck to you!!!! :)
