My DH and I are wanting to take my nephew (who will be 16 by the time of the trip) with us to Disney this year. I'm just now in the beginning stages of planning and was thinking about what resaurants he might like. This will be his first trip, and though I think he would like the characters, I don't know that he would neccessarily want a character meal. Any suggestions? He's a pretty laid back boy, and I know he will go with whatever we plan for him, but I really want this trip to be about him and stuff that he would like!

I'm assuming you mean TS places. I went last summer with my 16 yr and 20 yr old nephews. They really enjoyed Sci-Fi Drive In, The 50s primetime, and for their hollow legs, they really enjoyed O'hanna's. I made them go to the Birgarten (I wanted that one) and quite suprisingly they enjoyed it, probably because they could eat all they wanted. We also ate at WCC for a lunch and they enjoyed it, but there wasn't a lot of craziness that day. The TS meal that they really enjoyed was CaliGrill. I was a little nervous about if it would be too stuffy for them, but they were excited about the view, the fireworks and even the food. They even want to go back there again.

For a 16 year old boy I would suggest buffets or anything else that is all you can eat (such as Liberty Tree Tavern or Whispering Canyon Cafe). Otherwise he will eat you into bankruptcy!

All of the PP suggestions were on the tip of my tongue! We took my teenage nephew and niece a few years ago. They loved these. They also loved all of the character meals, including the Castle. My nephew was very unpredictably captivated by the mice and fairy godmother. He loved it more than his sister!(He is now a Jailer, so yes, he is a macho dude!LOL!)In short, they will probably love whatever you pick.Buffets are definitely agreat idea!

My DD16's choices for next trip were Coral Reef, Yak & Yeti, Liberty Tree Tavern, Sci Fi and Teppan Edo. We've been to all of those and love them except Teppan Edo is a new one for us. But she made sure I had ADRs for Sci Fi.

If your nephew is anything like my DH's son I would suggest buffet places. He is now 21 but we have been taking him since he was 9.

His favorite place is 'Ohana at The Poly. It is not buffet but all you can eat family style. They just keep bringing food to your table.

He also likes the lunch buffet at Crystal Palace. He likes Pooh but loves the buffet. This past May, him and his girlfriend took me and my DH to Chef Mickey's for my birthday for dinner. They made the reservations and everything - a complete surprise to me.

His girlfriend and I also helped him and his father finish off The Kitchen Sink at Beaches and Cream at The Beach Club. This is just about the biggest Ice Cream Sunday you would ever want to see.

Last November we all ate lunch at Tusker House and enjoyed it. He had requested this and we also were able to get perferred seating for The Nemo show.

Hope you guys have lots of fun.

Wow, these are all GREAT suggestions...thanks SO much! The ESPN Club is an especially good idea as he is into sports.

My DS will be 16 in a couple weeks and his favorite is Teppan Edo however he also likes LeCellier and 50's Prime Time. DS 10 also likes the above.

Have fun planning.

I think WCC and CP are good ones with lots of food and fun.
