What restaurant would you splurge on?

We did Ariel's Grotto on our last visit. It was nice, but not as pricy as Napa Rose, Carthay Circle of Steakhouse 55. We've eaten at Storytellers in the GCH several times too, and always enjoyed it. It's nice but not too pricy too.

If you want a complete splurge, do the "Chef's Table" at Napa Rose where they custom build your multi course meal and it can be a 2 hour experience. You can request the Dessert Counter with your kids and be seated with the pastry chef whipping up all the desserts!

How go they customize it? I'd love to try Napa Rose but am a bit spooked by the "non-traditional" fare...

Don't be afraid they are really accomodating. My husband seriously hates most vegetables and salads so he basically said no "greens" LOL and they stayed true to it ! Everything we had was fantastic and they really are there to make your meal amazing.
If you have things you absolutely don't want or are afraid of speak up , they really were amazing with us and the diners neside us were vegetarian and did a phenomenal job.
Also the wine pairing is a must if you like wine..my husband kept trying to steal mine !

I uploaded a bunch of photos and brief descriptions of our Napa Rose chef's counter meal in August. Some of the courses were from the menu and some were not. I let the chef know that I was allergic to bell peppers, did not like mushrooms and did not eat fish (but will eat seafood). Chef listened to all my restrictions and I loved almost every single course I ate!

Just looking at this has me drooling all over again for Chef's Counter. I just called to arrange our reservation :D

Edit : Whew glad I called today..one day was completely booked I offered , and only one day had the first seating available which is what my husband prefers.
Dec. 10th at 5:30pm for us !

We've done it twice now and trust me, we will do it again! Very pricey, especially when you figure in the exchange rate (Canadian $ sucks!) but worth it in my opinion.

If you like wine, I HIGHLY recommend doing the wine pairing as well.

That looks unbelievably good. So you think If I said, "Think grown up ten year old - beef, chicken - no seafood or innards" they'd work with that? It's the desserts that I am ALL OVER!

There are many foods that aren't seafood or innards LOL. Pastas , rice , vegetables , salads ( though smiling tiger salad has tempura lobster and is to die for) and there are many variations of beef and poultry - bison , boar , duck all come to mind for example.
Before this my husband was seriously a meat and potatoes guy , now he tries everything. Going in with an open mind is crucial to enjoying things but you can also order off the menu but I don't see the point in chef's counter at that point unless someone else you are dining with is doing the full experience.

How about vegetarian? Maybe if I just said vegetarian that would be simpler. I guess I'm a pretty limited meat eater and I'm wondering if it would be still worth it.

Do you only reserve the chefs table by calling? Not online? Is it 60 days in advance? Thanks!

Yes it is by calling only. I think it's 60 days but can't recall..I know it's at least 30 days.

I called today for a December 10th reservation. They have two seatings , one at 5:30pm and one at 8:30 pm. Try to have a few days in mind in case your preferred date and time is booked.

I called the GCH directly and asked for Napa Rose. Most likely you will get the answering service and they will ask for details and call you back , they've always called me the same day often within the hour. Do not call Disney Dining as they do not book it.

Napa Rose. Steakhouse 55 id also amazing but the food is a bit heavier..at least what we had was. I love the decor of Napa Rose too.
