What Reservation are you Chasing?

Still chasing that 1900 Park Fare. I have one it's just way too late for us on our arrival day. I just don't forsee us being able to go to dinner at 8:20 when we've been traveling since 3am. But if that one opened up, I'm determined to find an earlier one!!

I was chasing an earlier BOG (had an 8:40, but we have a 2 yo). I snagged that a week ago thanks to another DISer, but it was on my Ohana night. It actually worked out better, since it's also the night we are going to MNSSHP. I stalked MDE, and happened upon a decent time for Ohana on my Kona night. I thought that would be an easy fix, because Kona seemed to have tons of availability. This was true with the exception of the one night I was looking for :/

FINALLY, I was doing my almost hourly checks of MDE yesterday. I happened upon a 5 pm Kona for the night I needed.

My plans are set!! Now I seem to keep wanting to check MDE out of habit, but I have nothing to look for. It feels weird to have no planning left. If only Sept would hurry up and get here.

I find myself checking for days that are set also. lol i think i have an addiction. I have the perfect ADR for Thanksgiving dinner but i keep looking to see what else is there...

And it IS an addiction! It has all the hallmarks of something that causes addicting behavior. Intermittent reinforcement/rewards, incentives to keep playing, competition as you see (and think) others are winning what you don't have....

It is the same techniques gamemakers utilize to make their games more compelling. Variable ratio reinforcement (similar to slot machines, where players receive rewards on a random schedule) and avoidance (where players are punished for not playing enough, as seen in Farmville's withering of crops). Others, like the compulsion loop, relies on providing players with a never-ending sequence of new content and goals. See?

Whoever designed it is brilliant. You get so hooked on ADRs and fastpasses that heaven help the spouse or family member who tries to change the schedule or cancel after everything is set.

I got lucky and managed to get decent ADRs for the few places I wanted (CP breakfast, BoG dinner, Ohana), and now I'm only checking to see if I can get a slightly earlier Ohana time. Prety happy, it's my 2nd full trip to WDW and the first one with any ADRs!

Not for the days I was planning but if nothing opens up we are willing to work around it as we have Park Hoppers!

Fantasmic! Dining Package. Any of the 3 restaurants. Christmas week, 12/21. All ADRs made @ 180D, except CP Dining Package & MBBQU (Christmas dinner) which were available at a later date. Wasn't planning on Fantasmic! for this trip, but changes to CP Dining Package no longer including special IllumiNations viewing area has me rethinking.

Going to bed, search. Wake up, search. Wake up in middle of night, search. Time to charge devices, search. It always

Obviously I need something else to do.

It paid off! Booked Fantasmic! Dining Package for 3 today!

It wouldn't let me book online, so I had to call with a short wait. Dining CM was searching, while I was still trying to get MDE site to work. As CM was getting reservation, MDE stated no reservations available. Then CM was showing another time. Oh, man. I was nervous. Any who... All ended well...

We had to change our dates by one day, which was the day I had booked the Fantasmic dining package so I've been checking over and over again. Hopefully Woody will have good news for me at some point.
