raised Catholic..no longer practice. too political and they're a little over the top with telling me how to live my life.

I'm a "Belgian" catholic.

It means that although I'm catholic, I am not against birth control, abortion, euthanasy (sp?), gay marriage, adoption by gays, sex-before-getting-married, ...

I'm the theological offspring of a retired United Methodist minister. I attend a United Methodist Church with my wife and kids, so I guess that makes me a Methodist.

Here's a neat link that I found sometime ago that maps out some of the various religious affiliations in the United States:
Map Gallery of Religion in the United States

A lapsed Lutheran. I'm still a Christian but am totally turned off by organized religion and doubt I will ever be part of a church again. I worship in my own way and God still loves me! :)

Christian -
Born and raised Seventh-Day Adventist, now a practicing Presbyterian.

Ex-Catholic now Atheist (for the last 9-10 years or so).

My sister went the other way and is now Greek Orthodox.

My best friend is...hmm...I guess Buddhism would be closest.

My late grandfather was Jewish.

I've a brother-in-law that is a fundamental Christian.

Quite the Heinz 57 in my circle ;)

Another Roman Catholic here

I was born Jewish. My DW was born Roman Catholic. Our DD6 was born Unitarian Universalist, the faith that both my DW and I have embraced.

Some in this thread have mentioned it. It's an odd faith because it has no creed. Rather, it has seven principles, concerned such things as "the dignity and worth of all people," the right for a personal pursuit of the truth, and the right to vote (all very simplified). There are Christian UU's, humanist UU's, pagan UU's, and all sorts of different types. It's not a Christian religion (the term Unitarian comes from those who were outvoted at the Council of Nicea), but we feel that Jesus had many wonderful things to teach us.

(Sorry, I sound like I'm proselytizing, which we're not supposed to do. However, there were questions before about unfamiliar religions, so I thought I'd head the questions off before they get started.)

I checked "Other" because I didn't feel like I fit in much anywhere else. I attend church with my dh, who is Catholic, but I'm not baptised, and have no inkling to be, and not really Christian, although I do believe in God. I'm currently looking into the Universalist Unitarian Church, and I think they'd fall under "other" also.
Definitely check out the UU churches and if the one that you try doesn't work - go back for a couple of weeks because things change. Also, try other UU churches as, truly, no two are the same! :thumbsup2

I'm more spiritual than religious. Organized religion doesn't make much sense to me. I don't believe in Creationism, so that kind of screws any Western belief. I think a lot of Eastern concepts are interesting. I believe that there is sort of an oversoul, like the brahman in Hindu... a general spirit that is all around us, but not necessarily making any decisions. Just sort of a life power. I think that Western thought has raised humans to a supreme level, but I think humanity in general is foolish and makes bad decisions, and that we are no better than elephants or ants or trees. I guess I just think a lot about everything. I'm proud of that, though.
When I have children, I would like to raise them in a Unitarian Universalist type of church... one that recognizes the value in all religions, and allows for many beliefs and theories. I want my kids to know what facts and thoughts are out there, and allow them to be fully educated so that when they are mature enough, they can make a decision on what to believe.

I'm glad someone else knows about the UU principles and respect for parts of all faiths.

VERY good description of the faith. (And there are many UUvangelists who do think we should spread the word!)

I'm a UU (came from a Southern Baptist background). It's good to see a couple of us on here, at least...

It is Rastafari - not Rastafarianism. I think Reggae storyteller Taj Weekes said it best:

"Rastafari is not an ‘ism.’ Rastafari just is. It's an I and I philosophy where I the physical and I the spiritual is one; it's about the divinity of man and the humanity of God; it's the knowledge of one's self that contrary to popular belief we were not born in sin but in righteousness; it's all about one's livity, how one conducts oneself in one's daily running."

By the way, I wasn't one of the 2 that selected Rastifari but I think it is a very interesting philosphy.

I believe in a higher power & respect all religions (christian & otherwise) as individualized forms of reflection of faith...it's all good.

Was raised R.Catholic, DS all altar servers & all do community service. Would have to call myself a "cafeteria" catholic though:guilty: .

Raised Presbyterian, baptisted as a Methodist, re-baptised this year as a baptist. Bottome line a Christian. :cloud9:

:) Lapse Catholic. I joined a WONDERFUL presbyterian church when we lived in Aurora, Co. DS was baptized there. I have attended both a presbyterian and an Episcipal church here in NH. My dd is not yet baptized
DH is a christian but doesn't attend church.
