What q's should I ask family??? (Update on post #26)

Just wanted to subscribe as I'm organising a group of 6 (or more ;) ) and this could be really useful,

Hey - another question - is there any place that categorizes rides in the Parks? i.e., Rollercoaster (i.e., BTMR), dark rides (i.e., HM), etc.? I know I'm going way too deep on this... but I'm having fun!

No such thing as too much planning! Have fun with it!! I would suggest ordering one of the guide books like the Passporter or getting the Unofficial guide. While I don't believe they group the ride types together in any of the books, these will offer descriptions of all the rides, as well as ratings including how people of each age group faired.

The comment about planning time apart is a good one, but also remember not to burn yourself out trying to make everything great for everyone. Perhaps delegating to each family group or having them plan a day all to themselves etc would be good. It will be very difficult to please everyone, so try not to let it detract from your own vacation.

I think it was a big help to us. I gave each person (kids included) a little chart that had blank space for each day we were there, divided into morning, afternoon, and evening. I asked people to list what they wanted to do or where they wanted to go.

We really didn't stick to that at all -- but what it DID do was give each of us an idea IN ADVANCE of what was important to the other people in our group. That way, when we were there, we weren't surprised when some of the people wanted to do different stuff than others of us did -- and they weren't surprised when we wanted to do something different than they did!

I'm a planner at heart -- with everything -- but don't get me wrong, I don't subscribe to the commando-style Disney World visit -- I prefer to just go with the flow and do what we feel like we want to do each day. HOWEVER, I will definitely do the same thing for our next trip -- it's just good to have an idea what you want to make sure you get to do, because the time goes by way too quick once you're there.

Just go, have fun, and enjoy!

Hey all - I finally found this thread again! I wanted to show you the survey that I compiled from your ideas (although I forgot a question or two, darn it!)

http://www.karen-n-chris.com/survey/admin/printablesurvey.php?sid=1

So far, I've had only minimal complaing about filling out the survey, and most of the responses are what I thought, although there are three families (both sets of parents, and my BIL and his new family) that haven't responded yet.

Actually, this is turning out to be a great idea, because my new SisIL (BIL's new wife) mentioned the trip to HER sister, and she and her family now want to come, too (another 6 people, plus their nanny, probably). I told her that if they want to get the group rates & join in with our stuff, that they'll have to fill this out, too. :)
