What places do you walk to?

maybe a park if the grand kids want to go.....doesn't happen often.

We don’t actually walk anywhere directly from our house cause we live on a busy state highway with hills in every direction. We do like to drive to a local reservoir and walk. It’s beautiful there. We also walk at a nearby cemetery. We recently started walking an old towpath from a canal in town that was used in the early 1800’s that the local Metroparks has worked on. It has alot of significant history behind it and it is interesting to think back to what it was like back then. It runs down behind where Thomas Edison’s birthplace is which you can visit.

We moved to a walkable area. There are 4 grocery stores I walk to, at least 3 CVS stores I can walk to, the Metro, waterfront park, farmers market, fine dining restaurants plus Panera, Starbucks, Chipotle, Dunkin’, and independent coffee shops, my primary care doctor’s office, dentist, liquor store, hardware store, bank, sometimes church if the weather is nice but that’s 1.5 miles.

Pretty much everywhere. The only time we take the car out is to visit chain stores in the suburbs. With hundreds of restaurants, shops, bars, tourist attractions, etc. within a mile radius, it makes more sense to walk than to try to find parking.

My back yard, my mailbox, to and from my car when out and about. We live out in the country so there is nowhere to walk to close by. When I actually worked in an office, I would walk a couple of blocks to get lunch and usually took an afternoon walk around the neighborhood near the office.

I moved from a walkable area. Before, I could walk to almost anything I needed. Grocery store, 2 big-box stores, & a mall; CVS and Walgreens pharmacies, 4 banks, my insurance agent, dry cleaner, 3 Chinese restaurants, 3 pizza/sub shops, 6 casual restaurants, 2 'fine dining', Dunkin's, walking trails built on the old rr bed, and an amusement park.

Now I live in the middle of everything -- and none of it is in safe walking distance. Overall, most of the distances are a little to a lot further, but between the traffic and the lack of sidewalks I wouldn't even THINK about walking here.

I can walk to 'Geezer Central' aka the main building, where the Dining Room and Health Center are, the swimming pool and craft room...
I traded walkability for safety and security in a 55+ community. It's a very nice 'geezer colony', but I miss being able to go anywhere without having to take my car.
