That's a pretty major exaggeration.
Yeah, I agree... And no it's not a short answer, it is also tough to answer bc so many different opinions. I have stayed at all tiers of resorts. I have never had a "bad" experience. Here's my attempt at accurately over simplifying
Values
The values are like your regular motel room, small & clean, BUT with fabulous larger than life theming, nice food court, nice pools... They are not that big overall. We just stayed at ASMov and our room (buzz lightyear building) happened to be like a two minute walk to the bus and we found a short cut around the building. So... I'd stay there again. Yeah we waited a little longer for the busses but that could've been bc it was Thanksgivng week. But it WAS Thanksgiving week and it was full, but not uncomfortable. Our room was quiet. Zero problems.
Mods
A big step up, bigger rooms, nice touches, more subtle theming, great pools, decent food options, more comfy beds... I don't know how to explain it but the grounds have more lush surroundings. Since the theming is a little more subtle, they feel less like you are being beat in the head w the fact that you are at a "DISNEY" resort lol
My friend just stayed in one of the Royal Rooms at port Orleans and I thought it was fabulously redone.
the way they do the busses is different too. It's more like a bus stop than a ride line. There are a few per resort rather than one per resort.
Deluxe...
Omg.. Deluxe is like you've died and gone to heaven lol Honestly, the only deluxe I have stayed at was Grand Floridian. but boy was that a phenomenal experience. Seriously the most beautiful resort i have ever been. and im not that young. lol The conveniences, the balcony from which you could see Wishes, the electric water parade... Luxury bedding, comfortable beds, immaculately clean, on site spa, great restaurants ... I love love love the monorail- so the convenience of the monorail is just top notch IMHO. Just a nice perk, but not something I'd break my bank trying to afford. There is really no comparing a deluxe to anything else. I'm looking at my first Boardwalk visit for our next trip, so I will be able to comment on two deluxes after that, but frm my experience, there is a lot to be gained by upgrading resort tiers.
And like I said, this is an oversimplification. I'm sure I missed some major points, but basically I think that's a quick overview. I enjoyed all stays I have ever had at any Disney resort. Wherever you go there is something for you.
