What paper trimmer/cutter would you recommend for cutting thick cardstock?

I recently came into possession of some 12x12 thick cardstock from Die Cuts with a View. Upon receipt of the paper, I immediately realized that my el cheapo paper trimmer from Mal Wart ain't gonna cut it -- literally. I'm thinking the only things I currently own that could maybe do the trick are a box cutter/utility knife or a table saw. ;)

I'm at a bit of a loss as to what to use to cut this stuff. Do I need a guillotine-style paper cutter, or would, say, a Making Memories 12x12 paper trimmer work well? I do have a couple kitties with some pretty sharp claws, but they might object... :cat::cat:

Any thoughts/suggestions will be greatly appreciated. :)

Thank you,

I think the Making Memories one, because the blade is self sharpening. I use just the basic Fiskars one to cut Bazzill, but it does do a number on the blades. I'm going to get the MM one eventually.

I have a Fiscars one and blades are cheap ($4.49 for 2 not on sale) and it cuts Bazzill well. 4 months and I'm still on my first blade which is more than I can say for my Cricut (had since April 1, on 3rd blade)

I have a Provo Craft paper trimmer (the pink and green one) and it works great on the heavier papers like Bazzill or DCWV. The Provo Craft trimmers are usually a bit cheaper than the Fiskars and the refills (both blades and scorers) are pretty inexpensive as well.

i have a tonic guillotine, it is awesome!
the blade is self sharpening..so you never have to replace it..and it will cut thru cardstock/chipboard..it is a great cutter!

I'm saving up for the MM one - I have the Cm one but Bazzill just EATS the blades:sad2:

I have a guillotine one that I got at Staples and LOVE! It's self-sharpening and has a laser guide on it --- the laser guide was just an added bonus that my DH and his friend thought I HAD to have! It cuts through Bazzill like a pro!

Just to let you all know..... I received the MM paper trimmer for Christmas and have been less than impressed with it. I wanted it because I seemed to be constantly buying blade refills for my Fiskars trimmer. But I've had some troubles with the MM..... mostly, the construction of the base of the trimmer "moves" and makes the paper sit crooked. I am constantly having to "bang" it back into place. I have given some serious consideration to contacting MM about it. Not sure exactly where it came from. My Mother got it for me and she bought it from the internet. I actually am not sure that it wasn't used when my Mother got it (but she wasn't aware of it). The package was stapled together and the blade guide seemed to have a ding in it. But I didn't want my Mom to feel bad so I didn't say anything. My mistake. Just wanted you all to know...............................P

Oh, and BTW, I have used the MM and my Fiskars 12" trimmer (blue and silver) with the DCWV cardstocks (as well as many other brands of cardstock) without any trouble.

I have a couple of differnt 12X12 cutter and the one I use all the time is the fiscars one that is really big.

the laser guide was just an added bonus that my DH and his friend thought I HAD to have!

OM! This sounds just like my hubby & his friends! He told one of his friends that I wanted a Wishblade for use with my computer. His friend said, "I don't have any idea what that is, but I totally want one! That name sounds so awesome!"
