What other hotels are nice in the Universal area?

We are going to Disney in August and want to go to Universal for the first 2 days. I don't think we can afford to stay at a Universal hotel....just can't justify paying over $200 a night & there don't seem to be any other discounts besides AAA & AP.

Are there any other nice hotels close to Universal for under $200???

We are doing Disney 8/13-8/19 and then staying at Crowne Plaza-Universal 8/19-8/23 to do universal studios and islands of adventure. Under $200, nice amenities.

Best Western Movieland is way under $200. We were there in January and it was good. Not a resort by any means, but it suited us just fine. Very close to Universal and allows for a nice walk along I-drive in the evening. There is a Black Angus restaurant adjoining the hotel and Wet and Wild is literally right across the street.

It is worth paying the extra money to stay one site. It pays for itself. The express front of the line is worth it's wait in gold. This was the first time we stayed on site and we decided to do that from now on because of this. We went on the hulk twice before people waiting in line went on once. And so on with other things. Crowne Plaza Universal

We stayed at the Crowne Plaza Universal two years ago and loved it! However, I was wondering why the price has gone up so dramatically. We paid $60 night in 2003. Now I see it is $199.20 a night! That's insane! Plus, it was a busier time last time we went (Christmas/New Years). This time we are just going the 2nd week in November.

It's not worth that money!

I don't know when you are going, but I just got the Peabody for 3/9/05 at $105 through Hotwire. The Peabody is the only 4.5* hotel on Hotwire's list except for HRH and they haven't been listed in over a year.
