What Not To Wear At Walt Disney World - Getting ready for the next one -Show on again

No, instead we turned left and headed up to the monorail! Does anyone else find themselves singing the Simpsons ‘Monorail’ song in their head whenever they get on this thing?

:worship: At last, I know I'm no longer alone!!!!! I and my DH find ourselves singing it under our breath EVERYTIME we go on/think about the monorail!!! We also spend many 'hilarious' hours quoting the spiel from the monorail (english and spanish versions) when in WDW. Hilarious to us, possibly not to anyone near us...... ;)

OMG... I can't believe that I found this. I just saw your episode this week and mentioned to another DISer that I was glad that Stacy and Clinton didn't see my wardrobe :rotfl: She told me that you were a DISer and your trip report was on here!!!! So here I am! I can't wait to read more!

Thanks!! It seems the show has been on a lot lately!

I need to learn more of the words to that song. All I remember is the end when they all go "monorail...monorail....monoraaaail!" so that's the part that plays over and over in my head when I'm on the monorail

Ok, two things:

1. I have NO IDEA how I've been missing out on the PTR/TR.

2. DUDE. You were on WNTW. I'm SO ENVIOUS. Well, not of the bad/over-Disnified dressing ;) but of MEETING STACY AND CLINTON.

::drool::

Oh. And the $5,000 wardrobe might just have me panting a little too.

My BF says to me all the time, no joke, "Love, you are Stacy London's best friend, she just doesn't know it yet."

Our coupled affinity for shoes is powerful enough that I think we could actually reverse the rotation of the Earth.

Ok.

So. Now I'm back to the very beginning to catch up!
AND totally read the WNTW thread.

:rotfl: I have to admit Stacy's love of shoes has rubbed off on me a little bit (although maybe not the ginormous heels she wanted me to wear!). Meeting Stacy and Clinton was awesome because they were truly so nice and fun to hang out with.

This completely goes against being on What Not To Wear but I was surfing the web for Disney themed jewelry and saw this Alice Tshirt that is perfect for you!

Alice Tee

Ah I love it!! I don't have any Disney Couture stuff, I need to get some for my next trip!

I still can't believe I haven't tried the Tonga Toast yet. I'm kicking myself that I didn't make an ADR for my December trip. I might have to do some rescheduling.....:scratchin

I was wary of the Tonga Toast - i thought it might be too rich and sugary for breakfast - I was so wrong! It's amazing! If you can fit it in for your next trip, I definitely suggest it!

Oh my gosh the latte and tonga toast...mmmm....they look delicious!! I want to lick my screen!

That really was one of the most perfect WDW meals I have ever had! I can still almost taste it.

That worked for me - absence made the heart grow fonder. We last went to HOP in 2005 and as I was sitting waiting for the show to begin I started thinking back to the last time I had seen it - and it was when Ronald Regan was president!!!! :rotfl:

Yes, I think I am going to stick to seeing HOP only once per new president  So I'll go next time, and then not for another 4-8 years!

I'm really enjoying your TR! It seems like Jakkie "gets" Disney and is cool going with the flow. Lucky you!

I never saw your WNTW episode, but I can truly relate. My closet is full of Disney, even 4 of the same Mickey white cotton tees in various stages of disintegration (but they're SOOOO comfy!). Your Alice bag is adorable, as was your encounter with her. There's probably a way to save it. If you have an old-fashioned shoe repair shop near you or even a dry cleaner with a tailor, they could probably work some magic on it.

Sorry about the lousy bubble tea! I love that stuff. Some of the best I've had is in Philly's Chinatown. There was this great restaurant right on the main street running through there (can't remember the name). If you're heading into the area, it's on the left side about a half a story off the ground. It was VERY modern for the area and had lots of geometric neon around the front window. Anyway, they had an amazing variety of flavors.

As a Philly girl, do you go to Pat's or Geno's? Wit Whiz? ;)

I'm psyched to read the rest of your TR, especially when DBF joins you. BTW, how did Mixi do? My kitty Bart, who has unfortunately developed separation anxiety, is laying on my chest with his butt in my face right now, just making sure I'm not going anywhere. Gotta love it.

Next up: The newly refurbished Haunted Mansion! Hurrah!

I loved the new additions – the bride’s attic was especially cool. I was also excited to check out the pet cemetery afterwards, which I had never even noticed before, and find Mr. Toad’s headstone. It’s reeeeally hard to see – here’s a picture, but you can barely tell.
IMG_4851.jpg

Jakkie was mortified that I was dawdling by the pet cemetery. While I was trying to capture Mr. Toad’s stone, she snapped at me “Don’t take a picture of that! This is morbid!!” :rotfl:

Let’s go stand in line for It’s a Small World! It’s totally worth it. Jakkie was excited about the shiny sparkly gold entrance.
IMG_4853.jpg

The ride was fun – we tried to guess where all the little singing dollmonsters were supposed to be from. I hope WDW gets the additional Disney-themed dolls that Disneyland has now. They look so cute!
My favorite part was when we went by the ducks that are all swinging their eggs in the direction of the boats (I did not explain that well…hopefully you know what I mean). Jakkie and I decided they looked menacing. That might be one of those “you had to be there” moments. I took one lone picture.
IMG_4855.jpg

Geese! Hurrah.

As we excited the ride, a new game was born. A people watching game, much like tiggerbell’s WHO LET GRANDPA DRESS HIMSELF?
We got a kick out of spotting dads who were coolly sporting their daughter’s sparkly princess backpacks. Only in Disney World!
IMG_4856.jpg

We walked across the way to Philharmagic, which had a bit of a wait. As we walked up to stand in line, a couple tapped me on the shoulder. Recognized again….this pair got a kick out of my purse. “They let you keep your bag!!” they marveled before moving on. That’s right y’all…you can pry my Alice in Wonderland paraphernalia from my cold, dead hands.

The wait for Philharmagic was long. Hours, possibly days. It felt like, at least. Jakkie & I amused ourselves by watching all the little girls who had gotten the royal treatment at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. We were surrounded by junior Belles and baby Jasmines. And the long wait was well worth it, because Philharmagic is amazing. And we had great seats. Woohoo!

It must have been about 3pm now, because a parade was about to occur! We lucked onto a fabulous spot in Frontierland, sat down, and took turns grabbing some ice cream.
IMG_4857.jpg

IMG_4858.jpg

We were fascinated by this couple (in their early 20’s?) standing across the path from us. They were dancing to the pre-show music. And they were amazing dancers. I tried to take a video of them but because I was attempting to be discreet I cut off all but the tops of their heads. They entertained us until it was time for the parade!

IMG_4877.jpg

For some reason I found the above picture hilarious and spent five minutes cracking up after I took it. I also was amused by this dude, driving the villains float.
IMG_4879.jpg

IMG_4881.jpg

I took a picture of Thumper in honor of Tucker.
IMG_4882.jpg

So Jakkie’s very favorite Disney film is Beauty & the Beast. So when that float came by I frantically started snapping away in hopes of getting a good shot of them. And then later realized I ended up with this.
IMG_4883.jpg

IMG_4886.jpg

Meh. Ah nevermind, here comes my secret boyfriend Chip!
IMG_4888.jpg

And with that, the parade ended and we were off to go on a scary adventure with Snow White. And it was truly scary. And then we did more wandering and happened upon the most delightful thing.

Tucked away in the little theater where Belle usually does her All-Star Storytime Extravaganza were three bickering ladies and a small crowd clamouring for their autographs. We parked ourselves on a bench and just watched them for about 20 minutes.
IMG_4893.jpg

Anastasia, Drizella and Lady Tremaine were awesome. They were so in character! They compared fashions with the little girls, batted their eyelashes at the little boys, and hissed at anyone wearing a Cinderella t-shirt. And argued incessantly with each other. They were hysterical.
IMG_4898.jpg

I could have sat there all day. Jakkie & I started scheming about how to get costumes so we could go as the stepsisters for Halloween next year. Eventually though, we decided to get a move on….

Coming up! Mouse house! Malt vinegar! Dueling pianos!!

Hi! Yes I am lucky that Jakkie is a Disney girl. She has even gotten me to like some of the Disney things that I couldn't stand, like Hannah Montana (if only because of the episode where Hannah gets in a fistfight with a puppet named Pancake Buffalo).

I'll have to look for the bubble tea place you suggested. When I was in college at Drexel U, the Bubble House opened at 34th & Sansom and I spent a lot of time there trying every kind of bubble tea they had!
And don't hate me but...I can't stand cheesesteaks! I have lived here for 8 years and have eaten maybe two! Something about the shredded meat just freaks me out.

Mixi was fine while I was gone but I have a roommate, so she wasn't alone at all. She is a lucky kitty because my roommate works nights, so one of us is home almost all of the time. :cat: Right now he is making his lunch for work while I am curled up on the couch in my pajamas, and Mixi is racing around the kitchen trying to trip him :rotfl:

Oooooh...you've gotta go and come back and give us a full report! I think the closest one to us is in Atlanta.

I am so curious about what exactly it is! And how it takes up FOUR BLOCKS in the busiest section of Philadelphia  All the website says is that balloons are involved, but I'm pretty sure my office would frown on me charging back in from my lunch break with a giant Mickey balloon.

GREAT TR. Although it makes me sad to read it b/c I miss my dear beloved WL so much! SO SO jealous.

Can't wait to read more.

The stepsisters are great.

Great update. I thought of you today because the Simpsons episode this evening was a highlight and they showed the Monorail song. :cool1:

I came running out of the kitchen as soon as I heard it. :lmao:

:rotfl2: that's awesome. only a REAL man would carry a pink sleeping beauty backpack.

okay......there is SOMETHING going on with belle and getting a good shot of her! the ONLY time i've ever been able to get a good shot of her face is when i actually take a picture WITH her or during B&B live on stage at DHS. every other time she ALWAYS turns her head when i try to take a picture. maybe all the belles got together one day and decided they would always turn their heads away when they saw a camera. too bad - she's my favorite princess!

Anastasia, Drizella and Lady Tremaine were awesome. They were so in character! They compared fashions with the little girls, batted their eyelashes at the little boys, and hissed at anyone wearing a Cinderella t-shirt. And argued incessantly with each other. They were hysterical.

they really have become some of my favorite characters. they are SO entertaining to watch and always do a good job with being REALLY into character.

Jakkie & I started scheming about how to get costumes so we could go as the stepsisters for Halloween next year.

that is SUCH a good idea!!!!

Very cool that you got to see the step-family. I have never heard of them hanging out in Belle's Garden before.

Maybe they'll have a bunch of those Mickey balloons that are on the commercials. If you can't take one back to the office, just point it toward Tennessee! Don't you have room to hide on in one of your Disney bags?!?!

I hope the celebration is good, and I look forward to seeing your pictures and hearing about what all happens.

Great update!

my coworker just walked over to my desk and said "what's with all the Mickey balloons?"
I looked up - floating past my window (on the 24th floor) were two blue Mickey heads! Yesss I am excited to go check out this event! She and I are going to slip out soon to see what's going on.

I can't wait to hear what is going on. Make sure you get one of those balloons for yourself. :goodvibes

Another great update. The Share a Dream COme True Parade is my favorite!

WE saw the step sisters and stepmother at 1900 Park Farie in August and they were fabulous!:thumbsup2

Aww man I am SO jealous!! I live in Kansas City and the Disney events never come anywhere near here. I'd have to drive at least a day & a half to see anything other than Disney on Ice. Ya hear that Disney?? We Midwesterners like you too! That would be so neat to see the sky filled with Mickey balloons.
