What Not To Wear At Walt Disney World - Getting ready for the next one -Show on again

We really liked Martin Short and his antics throughout the film. Until that song kicked in. Don’t get me wrong, I love American Idol and I think it’s cool that they have Canadian Idol winner Eva Avila singing at the end, but it goes on for a long time. And the song “Canada: You’re a Lifetime Journey” just doesn’t do it for me

I'm loving your TR and am so happy to hear that you got to meet Alice!!!! :goodvibes

Is the song in the new Canada movie the same song from the old - just with a different singer? I was just listening to an older parks CD and the song was done as a duet with a mansinging in English and woman singing in French. I'm trying to imagine the new version with just one singer.

That was a great update! I love just wandering around the World Showcase, eating/drinking where the mood strikes!

And how nice that you discovered the MK fireworks from your room. We had the same thing on our trip, and it was so nice to come back to at the end of a long day at the parks. :goodvibes

It was a really cool surprise! And although we never did see the water parade, we could hear it from our room too!

So cool that you got to meet Alice! :cool1:

Looks like you guys had a fun WS afternoon regardless of the weather. :thumbsup2

One of these days I'll see IllumiNations - we always seem to miss it. :sad2:

Oh Illumninations is wonderful! It's my favorite of the fireworks shows. We did have a great time at the WS despite the weather, we were expecting it to rain so we were prepared!

Great update! Dont you just love illuminations!!! :goodvibes

I do, during the holidays in 2002 I worked at Illuminations - supervising the area between the two gateway gift shops while the show went on - so I watched it every day for about a month and never got tired of it!

:thumbsup2 Love the update! Will need to try the cocktails at Morocco, I didn't know they did them there.
Alice pics were fab :cutie:
Good look with the poncho! ;)
How lovely to see the fireworks from your room!
Can't wait to hear more.
Di x

I had never noticed the cocktails in Morocco before either but the drink I had was fabulous! I will need to track down some almond liquor so I can try to make it myself. :drink:

Hi! I just found and read your entire ptr/tr! Awesome job! Can't wait for more!

Thank you! I am getting ready to write more right now! :goodvibes:

I love how much you loved alice!!! I bet it made her dasy as well!! cant wait to hear more!

I hope so - I couldn't believe that people weren't even paying any attention to her! She was so wonderfully in character.

I loved your reaction to Alice......so fun! :goodvibes

Despite the rain, you two really seem to have made the most of your day! :thumbsup2

Can't wait for more!

I was truly starstruck by Alice :rotfl: she was so great. Best character interaction ever!

I love how surprised, happy and enthusiastic you were about meeting Alice. :goodvibes

Don't let anybody from Toronto hear you compare it to Seattle or you will need to watch your back. :lmao:

I had a feeling when I was typing that, that I would regret it ;) I'm sure Toronto isn't as gray and rainy as Seattle (no offense, Washingtonians!)

I loved your update. What a great first day. I can't wait to read the rest. :goodvibes

Thanks! It really was a great day. As were most of our days in Disney!

Honestly I don't remember the old song! I know the new one is called "Canada: You're a Lifetime Journey" so if they say that line in the old song it might be the same. I think I only saw the old film once.

And so we move onward….to DAY 2! Which was Magic Kingdom day! Hurrah! We took the bus Magic Kingdom that morning….but we did not go in.

No, instead we turned left and headed up to the monorail! Does anyone else find themselves singing the Simpsons ‘Monorail’ song in their head whenever they get on this thing?
monorail.gif

As we waited for the monorail, only one other family was standing with us (because everyone else was rushing into the Magic Kingdom!). They were looking at us kind of funny. Then the mom leaned over. “Hey, weren’t you on What Not To Wear?” I said “Yes, we both were!” We talked for a few seconds and then the monorail arrived. It was pretty crowded, and the family ended up sitting across from us. At one point I heard the mom whisper “We should get your picture with her!” to her teenage son. He shook his head and looked mortified :rotfl:

Where were we going, anyway? Here’s a clue…
IMG_4801.jpg

Not sure?
IMG_4799.jpg

Yes, we had an ADR at Kona! Because I absolutely had to try the famous Tonga Toast!
We checked in just a few minutes early. But there was a big stack of people waiting around….looked like they were running behind. We hung out around the entrance, when two women ran up to us. “You are Kelly! From What Not To Wear!” :rotfl: Jakkie and I couldn’t believe that I had been recognized twice in the span of about 20 minutes. It was probably because I looked very much like the ‘before’ Kelly in my Alice purse and Alice shirt. I was really surprised that they remembered my name and everything – one of the women even wanted a picture. There’s my 15 minutes of fame, y’all :cool2:
Eventually we were called and shown to our lovely corner booth
IMG_4803.jpg

Jakkie got some typical eggs & pancake nonsense, but I ordered the most delicious breakfast ever. A Kona latte:
IMG_4807.jpg

And the Tonga Toast
IMG_4809.jpg

Which was far, far more amazing than I could have possibly imagined. I ate all of it. And then it was time to Magic Kingdom it up.
IMG_4810.jpg

Our first ride was the Jungle Cruise, where we had a marvelous skipper named Mark. I don’t know if they’ve completely changed the spiel, or if our guy was just uniquely hilarious, but he was very funny and I hadn’t heard most of his jokes before.
IMG_4817.jpg

During the part when we were in the dark caverns he did an impression of a submarine, which ridiculously funny. Maybe one of those “you had to be there” moments. He also imitated the TTA announcer. “NOW APPROACHING….” :rotfl:
IMG_4818.jpg

Next we hit up Pirates, then on to one of my favorite rides of all time, Splash Mountain!
IMG_4822.jpg

We really didn’t get wet at all, but Jakkie hadn’t been on it in a while and couldn’t remember where the drop was, so I teased her at every single little drop saying it was the big one. Which was mean of me, because she was anxious the whole ride and probably didn’t enjoy it.
IMG_4824.jpg

Where to next? BTMRR – we were getting on to all the rides with about a 15 minute wait. Fantastic!
IMG_4829.jpg

This ride was much different than I remembered. I didn’t remember the water or the little bats! It was really fun.
We headed toward Liberty Square, getting side-tracked by Woody’s Ho-Down. You know it.

Woody's Roundup, right here every day
Woody's Roundup, come on, it's time to play
There's Jessie, the yodeling cowgirl
Bullseye, he's woody's horse
Pete the old prospector, and Woody the man himself of course
It's time for Woody's Roundup. he's the very best
He's the rootinest tootinest cowboy in the wild wild west

For some reason I felt compelled to take 523, 299 pictures of this mesmerizing event.

IMG_4834.jpg

Next we had to check out Jakkie’s favorite place in the whole (walt disney) world:
IMG_4846.jpg

Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe. We spent quite a bit of time in here – she is real into holiday decorations, while I am more of the “why spend $20 on something I’m going to keep in the basement 11 months out of the year?” variety.
I’d like to end this installment with a truly exciting visit to an attraction I hadn’t been to in years, at Jakkie’s request.
IMG_4847.jpg

Was this her revenge for me making her sit through Ellen’s Dinosaur n’ Energy Joint the day before? I am not sure.
Coming up: Scary adventures, menacing fowl, and evil stepsisters!

I know have Woody's Roundup stuck in my head. D'oh!

How nice that you got recognized, that must have been very exciting for you!

Our jungle cruise guide was a lot more exciting then I remember too but our wasn't the same one you had. Weird. Maybe the Guides are stepping up their game!

Another great update.

I had to laugh about the Simpson "Monorail" song. Everytime that episode is on I get all excited because it reminds me of Disney World. :lmao:

I think it is great you were recognized twice in one day. How exciting.

That Tonga toast looks so good. I have yet to have it but everytime I see a picture of it I wish I have. I am hoping to get a chance to have it during our upcoming visit. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the great update. :goodvibes

that's cool you got recognized.

Aww, you're a celebrity!

Maybe you were their "Alice." :thumbsup2

I really like reading about your adventures in the World. So much fun! :goodvibes

Great update! We did the same thing with the drops in Aplash with my girlfriend, then everything we got on after that we told her there is only one real big drop. We had her convinced there was a drop on the TTA:rotfl2:

BTW, I finally got see the whole episode of your TV debut over the weekend! Did they really make you reimburse them for you Disney Store purchases?:rotfl2:

Also, we work like 4 blocks apart.

Great update! I have Hall of Presidents on my list for the upcoming trip and had already been second-guessing it prior to your post. It is boring, I know. But I haven't seen it in >15 years! Although if I didn't like it then I'm not sure what I think I'm going to find now!

How cool that you were recognized from What Not to Wear! Are you glad that you did it?

Sounds like an awesome MK day so far! The Tonga Toast looks yummy - what is that on top of it? (I've never had it)

Very cool that you were recognized twice! You are a celebrity!:cool2:

That is so cool you were recognized twice! Did you have your Alice bag?
:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Mmmm, tonga toast! Isn't it the best! I haven't had bfast there in years! I had tonga toast at Captain Cooks (CS) but it doesn't feel the same!

Great update! Can't wait for more!

Chugging a frozen margarita and jumping on El Rio del Tiempo immediately afterwards.
Isn't that the best?! :cloud9:

I stepped aside and ALICE IN FREAKIN’ WONDERLAND walked past me.
YAY, you met Alice! :yay:

“Hey, weren’t you on What Not To Wear?” I said “Yes, we both were!”
“You are Kelly! From What Not To Wear!”
Too funny!

Our first ride was the Jungle Cruise, where we had a marvelous skipper named Mark.
You got Mark? I love Mark! :thumbsup2

that's cool you got recognized.

It was so weird but I guess I did look very much like I did on the show. I have been recognized a few times at home and often it's when I am sneaking out of the house in some ridiculous outfit because I am just going to the movies or something.

Aww, you're a celebrity!

Maybe you were their "Alice." :thumbsup2

I really like reading about your adventures in the World. So much fun! :goodvibes

Thanks! It is fun getting to re-live them with this report.

Hi neighbor! I actually don't work out of that office anymore. But I only moved a few blocks away. And no, they let me keep the Disney Store purchases no problem  Those were empty threats!

I hadn't seen HOP in years either, it wasn't bad -it's cool to see the audio animatronics - but the long movie at the beginning isn't something i want to watch over and over again. At least if you haven't seen it in 15 years, there will be a couple of new presidents there for you to check out
And yes I am glad I did What not to Wear, I had so much fun!

Sounds like an awesome MK day so far! The Tonga Toast looks yummy - what is that on top of it? (I've never had it)

It was some sort of berry sauce - strawberry maybe? It was divine! I thought it would be too rich for me (I don't really like pastries for breakfast) but I devoured it.

You are a celebrity! :woohoo: That is so funny that people recognized you, very cool. :thumbsup2

Yeah we got a kick out of it! I always pointed out that Jakkie was my nominator from the show but I don't think people really recognized her because she looks so different. Her hair was short and red and really curly when they taped the show. She looks like she had more of a makeover than I did

Oh I totally had my Alice bag! I am sure that's what did it  I didn't realize they had Tonga Toast at Captain Cooks. That was one of the most memorable meals I had on this trip.

Great Update:thumbsup2

Now I am craving Tonga Toast......so good

Me too, I wish I had some right now!

You got Mark? I love Mark! :thumbsup2

I am glad to see another Mark fan! He was awesome. I can't remember the last time I laughed so much on the Jungle Cruise.

Another great update.

I had to laugh about the Simpson "Monorail" song. Everytime that episode is on I get all excited because it reminds me of Disney World. :lmao:

That Tonga toast looks so good. I have yet to have it but everytime I see a picture of it I wish I have. I am hoping to get a chance to have it during our upcoming visit. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the great update. :goodvibes

Thanks! Definitely make time for the tonga toast on your next trip, I plan to for every trip I take from now on! And for coffee drinkers, the latte drink I had was wonderful too. Jakkie also had a mocha coffee that she loved.

Our jungle cruise guide was a lot more exciting then I remember too but our wasn't the same one you had. Weird. Maybe the Guides are stepping up their game!

Wow, maybe they FINALLY changed the script after however many years. I haven't been that amused since I went on the Jungle Cruise in 2005 and we had a skipper from China who was being trained for Hong Kong Disneyland. She was really funny.

I hadn't seen HOP in years either, it wasn't bad -it's cool to see the audio animatronics - but the long movie at the beginning isn't something i want to watch over and over again. At least if you haven't seen it in 15 years, there will be a couple of new presidents there for you to check out

That worked for me - absence made the heart grow fonder. We last went to HOP in 2005 and as I was sitting waiting for the show to begin I started thinking back to the last time I had seen it - and it was when Ronald Regan was president!!!! :rotfl:

The title of your TR caught my eye...I love What Not to Wear...then how cool to find out you were ON the show!!! :thumbsup2 I haven't caught your episode yet though.

I'm enjoying your report...the picture of you and Alice is so sweet...you LOOK star struck! I actually feel that way whenever I see Mickey.

Oh my gosh the latte and tonga toast...mmmm....they look delicious!! I want to lick my screen!

Looking forward to reading more!:cool1:

I still can't believe I haven't tried the Tonga Toast yet. I'm kicking myself that I didn't make an ADR for my December trip. I might have to do some rescheduling.....:scratchin

This completely goes against being on What Not To Wear but I was surfing the web for Disney themed jewelry and saw this Alice Tshirt that is perfect for you!

Alice Tee

Ok, two things:

1. I have NO IDEA how I've been missing out on the PTR/TR.

2. DUDE. You were on WNTW. I'm SO ENVIOUS. Well, not of the bad/over-Disnified dressing ;) but of MEETING STACY AND CLINTON.

::drool::

Oh. And the $5,000 wardrobe might just have me panting a little too.

My BF says to me all the time, no joke, "Love, you are Stacy London's best friend, she just doesn't know it yet."

Our coupled affinity for shoes is powerful enough that I think we could actually reverse the rotation of the Earth.

Ok.

So. Now I'm back to the very beginning to catch up!
AND totally read the WNTW thread.
