What NOT to do in Washington DC...or a "trip" report

My mom and I went to Paris together in 2005. Our rooms were not ready when we got to our hotel, so we decided to go for a little walk. The minute we stepped on to the cobblestone sidewalk, my mother rolled her ankle and sprained it. She was a trooper, though and we still were able to enjoy our trip.

That same trip I was really missing home and stopped at a phone booth on a corner to call home. I got into the phone booth, but for the life of me I could not figure out how to get out. I would still be in there except for a nice person who gave the door a little shove on his way by.

Not exactly a vacation- but I broke a bone in my foot(5 weeks ago) during my dd's field trip 2 hours away from home. I stepped outside onto a cement balcony and rolled my foot and fell. Should not have been wearing sandals without a backing! Also, I was excited to be looking at a big body of water and a boat we were supposed to tour so I wasn't watching where my foot was going. Luckily it was in the afternoon, so I just had to sit for a few hours to wait for our bus. I thought it was just sprained- but no it is a broken bone and I ended up having surgery. Only 2 1/2 weeks until this cast comes off! We still don't know if we are doing our WDW/Sea World trip in June.

I hope you can get around OK. I have a knee scooter and crutches. I know hard it is.

OK, for some reason I seem to get hurt on vacation more than any one else in my family.

As I've been in and out of sleep today I kept wondering how I can manage to get hurt for such stupid reasons, and thought I would ask here to make myself feel better. Surely there are others who have gotten hurt and sidetracked their plans during a vacation, please share your stories so I can stop feeling so dumb about my little "trip".

We have a saying in our family: "It's not a real vacation until someone goes to the hospital." :thumbsup2

Lordy, lordy, the stories I could tell. Fractured skull, asthma attack, broken ankle, ruptured eardrum, pneumonia, lacerated shin, corneal abrasion, fall off a 15ft cliff. DH has started taking pictures of the ER entrances as we go around teh country.

Oh My! Thankfully I haven't graduated to that level, yet. Although the pics of the ER's cracks me up :lmao::lmao: If we are in that area tomorrow when we go out I might have to take a pic :rotfl2: DD kept joking in the ER she was going to pull out the camera, but she never did.

I did get out for a couple hours this afternoon with DD and it went OK, DH has a wheelchair arranged for tomorrow and he will be with us so I'm not expecting any problems.

Minkydog I think you get the prize for best "trip" on a vacation
