What Not To Buy...

Instead of buying toys while we are there (even though I allow my daughter to save money to buy something to take home on the last day) - Tink visits our hotel room every morning. *It's much more exciting and cost efficient!

We buy inexpensive small Disney toys (action figure, play cell phone, coloring book, etc...) and snacks to take to the parks. *For a few months prior to our trip, we watch the clearance aisles, after holiday sales, and the everything for a dollar type stores. *Each morning my daughter wakes up to a special group of small gifts from Tinkerbell.*

I've only had one trip, but I did this too! Our visitor wasn't tink but whomever the item corresponded with - probably all princesses!*

I was the last to leave the hotel each morning and would place the items out so the girls came home to them. Also gave incentive to not be upset leaving the parks! At least there may be a surprise waiting!

*I got awesome deals on the stuffed dolls at the Disney outlet in Hershey while visiting my cousin so they got left five throughout our stay (well my oldest did the baby got two) also cheap stuff on clearance from the outlet like t shirts a pretty Cinderella watch that came with a note from the fairy godmother that she didn't want my daughter to be late for her dinner at the castle and and princess hats.*

My goal was for them to take the want out of her but we still ended up with LOtS of souveniers lol. I can't say no Disney or my husband who is usually Scrooge mcduck can't!

The bad part is the oldest is telling the daughter who was just a baby last time about all the dolls the princesses leave in the hotel lol. *we now have three*
girls one is only a baby so she won't need many special drop off gifts but what started as a fun little special thing I wanted to do because apparently disney isn't magical enough and to save money just became way expensive.*

The online store has alicestuffed dolls for $8 if anyone needs some! I just bought three for our sePtember trip as well as a couple Jessie dolls!

We will not buy the tub of popcorn. It is a pain i.t.a. to carry around and when we get home it never gets used for anything ever again.

Last year we bought the tall popcorn bucket with the snapdown lid. At home we found the perfect use for it.......DH seals up his Twizzlers (candy) in the bucket and keeps it by the computer for snacking while he is surfing the DIS.:thumbsup2

This is great. I have been really hesitant to declare anything off limits (I never know just what will tempt me) but I really don't need anything-- my small apartment is cluttered as it is. Since I don't have my own kids I'm going to pick up a few things for the children in my life, but I will steer clear of stuffed animals and light up toys, thanks!

What I WON'T be buying:
D&B purse-- I have a ton of purses and I can't justify the expense of even the smallest bag. Plus I'm not in love with any of the designs I've seen so far. Skip.
Cheap jewelry-- I'm tempted but will never wear it in real life.
Vinylmation characters-- have other collectible "blind box" figures that I like better than these. Well maybe just one or two. Nope, no. I can't open that can of worms! Not even one!!!
Mickey ice cube tray-- funny that so many people proclaimed this to be a waste of space because I saw it online and thought it was super cute. Glad to be informed early of how inefficient it is!

That being said I won't be able to help getting at least a couple souvenir glasses (I'm thinking the one from Rose and Crown, and a Harry Potter butterbeer mug), a keychain or two, and will have my eyes peeled for Disney measuring spoons. I don't know if they make those but I need to thoroughly inventory their kitchen supplies!

I have been really strong and not caved to the allure of pin collecting and trading. I have about 4 cool pins that are sitting in my jewelry box, but I certainly don't need tons of them, though the display ideas you all have shared are really cool. I am a collector by nature so it's best to just not get started with new collections or clutter will completely take over my life!

Does anyone else have things they have pre-decided not to purchase or need to be brave and stay away from?
