What normal things do you not like?

The phrase "pulled pork" grosses me out, and I never order it even though I might like it. Something about the word "pulled" :scared:.

Pulled pork is simply pork shoulder that has been cooked very slow over low heat & smoke until it is tender enough to be shredded ("pulled" apart) by hand ;)

Maple syrup (even the smell) licorice, cilantro, liver, cheap cheese(ones on fast food burgers) root beer, beer:sick:

I'm so happy to see others mentioning cilantro and they think it tastes like soap! I am the exact same way; and my whole family think I'm crazy, lol. Also on the list...

Raw onions, any kind of jelly, water chestnuts, okra, any soda, avocados, canned corn (Love corn on the cob, but if its from a can, barf!) and cream of chicken soup. I am from a big family, and we always ate casseroles with cream of soup. Cannot stand it now!

I have to say Im jealous of those that do not like chocolate... I wish I didn't like chocolate.....:(

I know what it is. But when I first heard of it I thought it meant the meat was pulled off the bone. Picturing that (muscle, bones, joints) grossed me out, and it's still what I think of when I read the phrase.

They should just call it shredded pork. Or chopped like they do with beef. I think it's that I've had pulled muscles and such myself, so even though I know what "pulled pork" means, the phrase "pulled" makes me think of a body instead of just the cooked meat. So does rare meat, which is why that was also on my list of don't-likes.

Dark chocolate (but I'll eat it...)

Crab

Salmon and trout (but I'll eat them if we are at dinner at someone's house)

brussels sprouts (are these considered "normal"?)

key lime pie- the kind made with sweetened condensed milk tastes like vomit to me (but I like the lime meringue pie made with prepackaged lime pudding... it's like lemon meringue only lime).

Well, it is actually pulled off the bone. Bone-in gives the best flavor. When the bone slides out clean, it's done :thumbsup2

But, if you're ever around here, I'll serve you some "shredded" pork that I slow-smoked for 10-12 hours over hickory & just for you, I promise not to call it "pulled" ::yes::

I just thought of a recently discovered dislike for me. . .

I can't eat Jello now that I know it is made of animal collagen. I'm not vegetarian, but that is just kind of sickening to me. And from what I've read, it's now made out of something in pigskin? :crazy2:

The bad thing is that I like the stuff. But I know I'll never want to eat it again.

Anyone know of a good vegetarian gelatin that is pretty much like Jello?

Pork chops
Raw tomatoes....any kind of cooked is fine, just not raw. Can't even stand to touch them, they make my hands itch.
Shrimp
Sweet potatoes
cucumbers in anything except tzatziki

Used to be mushrooms were on the list, now I crave them :confused3

Starbucks (but I love 'regular' coffee AKA not sludge)

:thumbsup2
I thought I was alone in my not liking Starbucks.
Also
Peanut Butter AND Jelly together. Separate are ok.
Yogurt
Sour Cream
Smelly cheeses

I've never tried them but don't see myself ever eating snails. I don't care how good you say they taste, I can't eat them.

Not a fan of hard liquor or beer, more foo foo type drinks where you barely taste the alcohol.

You're not crazy. You can taste something they cannot. There's apparently an enzyme that only some of us (I believe it's like 10%) can discern that others can't - and it makes the stuff taste like you've got a mouthful of Dawn dishsoap.

It's like that thing from 6th grade science class, when everyone put a little strip of paper on their tongues and most people tasted paper and a few people tasted horrible bitterness? Like that. Like how a percentage of people can smell cyanide, etc.

The thing that bugs me about it is that people refuse to acknowledge it's a thing. Like people say 'oh, yeah, I thought it was a little soapy but it grows on you!' or don't understand what you mean when you say soapy and mistake it for herby. They seem to not understand that by 'soapy' we mean 'tastes like everything was completely soaked in Dawn dish soap.'

This thread is making me hungry.

I am not a picky eater, but there are a select few things that I don't really like to eat.

cauliflower
water chestnuts
black licorice
Jello
overly spicy things
baby animals (lamb, veal, etc.)

I can't stand cheese (other than mozzarella on Italian food). We go out to eat all the time and I always have to specify 'no cheese' because it seems it is in just about everything these days.

I am always the only one in any crowd who doesn't like McDonald's french fries.

I dont like mcD's fries either!!! They have a funny sour taste to them. I dunno. I just dont think they taste like real potatoes. They actually arent fresh cut potatoes, but thats another thread! ;)

I also cant stand Starbucks. Its TERRIBLE coffee! How are they still in business?

I hate shellfish, spicy food, curry and most indian food.

I think thats all. :rolleyes1

It really is a thing! I've read about it on Yahoo and heard it on Rachael Ray. You either like it or hate it, not really an in between. I'm one of those who can't stand cilantro; I do love parsley.

I'll take it one step further, I don't like french fries PERIOD! :lmao: or potato chips! No, don't make that a combo! :scared:

I also don't get Starbucks... and I LOVE coffee! And I've tried and tried.:guilty:

I don't usually like "indian" food, either. My son's gf is from Bangladesh and her parents invite us to dinner often. Every time we go she has a pizza delivered ...just in case. So far so good, she has always managed to give us something I can tolerate!!

Speaking of tolerate... I cannot EXPRESS how much I hate Mexican food! How many ways can you use beans cheese rice and a hard or soft tortilla??? :confused3

I'm assuming that by "normal" you mean things commonly found in people's kitchens so here are some I have in my house, but will never eat.
Raisins. The smell makes my physically ill so I don't even want to know what the taste of them will do
American cheese, its like eating a thin square of wax.
crunchy peanut butter. Anything "butter" should not have chunks.
yellow mustard, yuck.
sweet pickles and/or sweet relish, gross.
