What must I have at Art Smith's Homecomin'?

I'll FINALLY be getting a chance to eat at Art Smith's Homecomin'. I've wanted to eat here for a long time because I've only heard great things. The problem is that everything looks so good. What do you think is a must have at this restaurant? I'm looking for alcoholic beverages, appetizers, main dishes, and desserts. If you've got a recommendation, let me hear it! TIA!

Well I was less than impressed with their fried chicken coming from the deep South I know a lot of grandmothers who could give them a run for their money but one thing keeps me thinking that I have to try them again. I am addicted to those deviled eggs.

Get the fried chicken and a Moonshine Margarita. Don't look at the price, though - it tastes a lot better if you don't.

I have never been, but I love deviled eggs. I don't know if I could eat six of them though. I wish they would serve fewer so that I can try other sides. I feel the same way about chicken. I love chicken, but I may want to try something else...or maybe not.

The charcuterie board is on-point. Their BBQ plate is plentiful and delicious, as is their mac-and-cheese.

Agree 100% with the deviled eggs. The Hummingbird Cake is possibly the best cake I have ever eaten. Enjoy.

The collards. They were the hit of our table of 8 - and we ordered just about everything on the menu to try.

One of those seated at the table is a friend of Art's and he actually called him for the recipe after the meal

My DH and I love the fried chicken platter, but it's so much food that we shared it last time. We requested all breasts and paid a small uncharge. It was the perfect amount of food - we were both too full for dessert. My DH looooooves the chicken and dumpling soup. I had the homemade BBQ chips and icebox dressing the first time we went (as a side), and I really, really liked them - they stayed fresh for several days in an airtight container. The chips probably won't be impressive to everyone, but I thought they were delish - I'm a sucker for fresh chips.

Like having a pizza out-of-state for this New Yorker, your enjoyment of Homecomin' and Art Smith's famous fried chicken will be dependent on where you're from and what your scale is for fried chicken. For instance, I think Via Napoli is very "meh". I LOVE the fried chicken, whereas a PP mentioned that many grandmothers' recipes would rival it.

For us, though, the fried chicken was the best we've ever had. That's not a hyperbole. From first bite, we couldn't believe the flavor, etc.

I'll add to this - the hot honey. Order it with the chicken!

My son and I both had the chicken and doughnuts (with a side of mashed potatoes). They were excellent! Can't wait to go back.

I also tried the hummingbird cake, but found it just okay.

The GF and I split the Thigh High Chicken biscuits, the Ham, Ham and Jam biscuits, a side of the bbq chips and mac and cheese. So much food, and it's fairly cheap.

I didn't think the chicken tasted good at all. Matter of fact, I thought it tasted like dirt. I see so many people say how good it was so either I was there on an off night or my southern grandmothers were the best friend chicken cooks out there LOL
