What motel/hotel did you last stay? Did you like it a lot?

State Plaza Hotel in the Foggy Bottom section of Washington DC a few weeks ago. We took our daughter back to school and spent the night. It's our go to hotel in DC.

Marriott's Beachplace Towers in Fort Lauderdale in December. We had a one-bedroom unit and were upgraded to oceanfront. Very convenient place to stay with plenty of restaurants in walking distance.

We stayed in the most fabulous AirBnB rental in Weeki Wachee, Florida a couple weeks ago. All the decor is mermaid-themed and it is on a canal just a few houses down from the spring-fed river that runs through the state park. And the rental included kayaks, a canoe, and a standup paddleboard so we spent most of our stay out on the river enjoying the manatees.

I spent much of my time growing up on and IN the river. Love it! My husband's old company used to have "Family Day" at Weeki Wachee and Buccaneer Bay every year.

Our last hotel stay was at the Disney Springs Holiday Inn. It was great! I was apprehensive about it being a Holiday Inn but it was very nice. It was clean, nicely decorated and close to Disney Springs. We could see fireworks from one of the parks in the distance (I have a horrible sense of direction so I have no idea which one). We used credit card points so it was basically free and they waved the parking fees as well.

Majestic Hampton Inn Chicago, literally connected to the CIBC Theater where Hamilton is. DD & I went 2 weeks ago to see the show for her birthday. Highly recommend for the convenience factor, good breakfast too.

My favorite was the Waldorf Astoria in NYC last Oct. before our Disney Cruise. Super low rates for being a Hilton Honors Member. $185. The place was so fun and interesting. We did a walking tour in the morning before we checked out. So much history. I was sad to see that it was sold to the Chinese, and they are making it apartments and condo's. The top floors were already apartments. Bummer.

I was just talking this morning to my husband about the Waldorf. My prom was held there back in the 80s. I remember it being quite beautiful and thought it was a great place to have the prom. I felt so grown up!

Last place we stayed was Country Inn & Suites in Charlottesville, VA. It was perfect for what we needed it for. It was new, clean, convenient to what we wanted to see in town and a really nice free bkfst. We were pleasantly surprised.

Comfort Inn, San Juan.

We stayed there about 6 weeks post-Maria. It was clean and comfortable, and the staff did everything possible to make our stay as comfortable as possible. They were running on generator power and the generator blew just as we were checking in. It took about 6 hours, but they were able to get it up and running so we had power through the night. They also developed a water issue. We were on the first floor and had water (gravity fed), but the upper floors didn't have any. We heard that they ended up closing the hotel right after we stayed because of this. They did serve a really nice hot/cold breakfast the next morning. I can't say enough about how fabulous the staff was.

Honestly, I doubt that I would stay there again, but only because I'm not a budget hotel type of girl. We had six hotels cancel on us pre-cruise and had booked this one as a back-up because we knew it was open and accepting guests (and it was better than spending the night at the airport). It was fine for the one night we were there and the location was great, but I really prefer a property with more amenities.

We stayed at the Vdara in Vegas for our honeymoon in August. We loved it. It doesn’t have a casino and is smoke free so it was great for a honeymoon. However when we wanted to gamble it was a short walk to the Aria, Bellagio and Cosmo.

Most recent would be our studio at SSR, but for non-Disney it was in NYC/Hell's Kitchen. I can't remember which chain it was--maybe a Mariott or Hyatt? The room was fine, the location was great as we walked to a number of places. Tiny lobby though, every time we passed through it all the seating was occupied.

This fall we stayed at Residence Inn in North Conway, NH. We really like this place. Great location, clean, coffee all day, breakfast, and nice staff. We stay there almost every Fall.

Robert Treat Hotel Newark, NJ (walking distance to Newark Penn Station) just before Christmas.

The parking was difficult as the lot didn't leave room for a lot of cars (all angled spot in an alley-way) but otherwise it worked out lovely. The breakfast area was quite nice and a good amount of options and the staff there was always welcoming. They had a small convenience area to get snacks and drinks. The bed was good too.

The con I would have to give is they had a free shuttle to take you to and from the airport. We needed a rental car (as we were there on business) but returned the rental car early once the business aspect of the trip was over and we would be responsible for the rental car costs and the extra 2 days was very pricey. Anyways they advised us the free shuttle would be there in 5-10 minutes. 25mins later it still hadn't shown up so we hailed an Uber (that my husband's company would pay for) and just over 5 mins later we were picked up.

We would have stayed at the Hilton Penn Station (which has an internal walk-way into Penn Station) but it was over $50 more per night and we were responsible for additional nights we stayed past business trip. Walking to Penn Station only took about 10 minutes so it wasn't bad.

Just got back from Key West. Stayed at The Reach, which is a Waldorf Astoria property. Found a great price for it. Their computers were down when we got there so we left the luggage with them and went out to walk around. When we came back the computers were up, we were upgraded to a suite, we got coupons for free drinks for being patient. The room was gorgeous, the resort was amazing. The only natural sand beach on the island. They have their own bikes to rent. The staff could not have been more accommodating and nice. Looking forward to staying there again.

Yacht Club, WDW. Liked Crew's Cup Lounge & Stormalong Bay. Also got a free upgrade to the lagoon view from garden. Con not a lot of quick eat choices since we didn't have park hoppers. If we stay again, get the park hoppers.

This past week we stayed at the Shades of Green at WDW. It's the hotel for military families (son-in-law is in the army reserves.) It's near the Polynesian, so the location is fine but the hotel is a tad dated and doesn't have the Magical Express or RAC. The price is really reasonable for being so close to the parks. We had connecting rooms with our DD and three very noisy grand kids. It made for easy babysitting when DD and son-in-law needed a date night without kids, but next time we'll try something with a better noise buffer.
