What MK or AK restaurant would you recommend? - food allergies

This is our 2nd time going to Disney and 2nd time staying off site. Last year, the only dinner we did out was T-Rex restaurant and they were very accommodating to DS's allergies (egg, fish/seafood & peanut). We were thinking of giving another restaurant a try but really have absolutely no idea where to begin. My twins are 9 y.o. and looking for something not crazy expensive (our Canadian dollar is low so budgeting accordingly!). We would probably prefer MK or AK but would be open to HS or Disney Springs. How in advance do I have to make the reservation? It's a little overwhelming! DD likes pasta but DS prefers pizza or hot dogs.

I think with that set of allergies you could really try pretty much any of the restaurants. My twins avoid those foods as well as many more and they enjoy Be Our Guest, Crystal Palace (one of our absolute favorites for allergy concerns), and Liberty Tree Tavern in MK. Of those for TS meals, LTT lunch would be the more affordable option.

At AK we like Tusker House, but to keep costs down we ate at Rainforest Café this year. They were good with allergies and they do have pasta and pizza as well as other standard kid's options. I'm not sure if their pizza is egg free though.

For allergies in Disney Springs, Raglan Road is great as well. Although I'm not sure the would have pizza or hot dogs.

disney is very good with food allergies ( I have life threatening allergies some I know what they are some I am not sure so eating out for me can be fun) but disney is great when I tell them foods I need to stay away and food that I physical can not touch with out having to pull out risking going having an anaphylaxis reaction.

I would look at the munue and see what your kids would like and then e mail disney dinning and tell them what places you would like to eat and your kids allergies and ask if they can accommodate them and make sure you tell them when you check in

Just look at the menus to see which ones have the foods that your family will enjoy. When you make the ADRs, note the allergies on it. I prefer to do this by phone, but you can do it online. Just make sure you add the note at the time of booking if doing it online.

Calling or emailing Special Diets should only be done for complex, multiple allergies/medically restricted diets nor covered under the regular routine.

Here's a link to the Disney webpage that discusses special diet requests: https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/guest-services/special-dietary

I should add that the last time I went to disney I had an ADR and forgot to tell them about my allergies and they were fin with accommodating me so even if you forget you will be fine

My FAK was treated like royalty at Tusker house! And my non-FAK begged to go back when I took her on a surprise trip this past Nov. I really enjoy it there too! At MK we did CRT and they were great as well. You can also email special diets to get an idea of what subs they offer for your allergy set.

Thank you! How far in advance do I make the reservations? I made my T-Rex ones last year in February for late April, do I need to do ones for the parks even earlier? Are there restrictions to the timeframe since we are offsite?

I second the Raglan Road, they have always been excellent with my allergy! Personally, I trust Table Service places more than Counter Service because (by my thinking) with a wider menu they have a chef who is more able to customize dishes to make something that is safe. Chefs have always come out to talk to me at buffets and been happy to bring food from the back where there's no cross contamination so my vote is to enjoy that while you can! :)

You can make reservations 180 days in advance. (plus up to 10 days if staying onsite, which doesn't effect you) Those are all common allergens so it shouldn't be a huge deal at any table service location. At MK Liberty tree at lunch happens to be our favorite- dinner is family style with much higher pricing. There and the Plaza are where we go for better pricing while at MK. At AK we ALWAYS go to Tusker house.

ETA- I think you are able to do Casey's with that allergy set. It's the quick service hot dog place at the end of Main street. I would specifically ask special diets about that, but it could be a nice treat for your hot dog/pizza lover.

Checked out Casey's on the WDW site and it looks like such fun! Thank you! I am going to look into if that would be a safe option, DS would be over the moon to have a hot dog at Disney. As you can tell, I know very little about dining at WDW, is a quick service a place you just walk up to and order, no reservations required? We did go up to one stand last year at HS and got a Mickey shaped ice cream bar (kids were thrilled!) and the lady behind the counter gave me the ingredients list to read over, very helpful.

Yes, a QS restaurant is where you just go up and order at a counter and pick up your food and seat yourself. They keep a binder with a list of ingredients for all of their foods. It's very helpful.

Disney does a fantastic job handling allergies at both table service and quick service locations. Some of my favorites are BOG, CP, the Plaza, Cosmic Rays, PB's but their menu has changed. I've never had any problems on Disney property

Disney is great with allergies and any TS you go to will have the Chef come out to discuss your allergies and then ensure the food is safely prepared. If you prefer a CS they have the list of ingredients available. Based on your children's likes why not look as Tony's in MK. It's Italian and has pizza and pasta. I will tell you it gets mixed reviews, but we have always had a good meal there. If you are a bit of a foodie the Epcot Italian restaurants are better, but I think the kids will like Tony's and the Lady and the Tramp theme.

Checked out Tony's menu and that looks really appealing for the whole family! Thank you, I'm going to talk to DH and probably reserve there.

That is the thing I love so much about Disney. They are the BEST with accommodating allergies and it is the only place I feel truly safe eating other than at home! In the MK, try the Plaza. I have many, many food(similar to your DS's) and other allergies and have eaten there on every trip and LOVE it. They are wonderful with accommodating and the chef is fantastic! They are a TS on the lower end of the price range for great food, and they have larger portions (from my experience).
