What makes you go AAARRRRGGGHHHH when at DLP

Well, in general I have no problems with the food, large groups, or smoking (except when its very near me, ie close enough to burn me with the end of the cigarette, and thats not been noticeably often at DLRP). Most of the CM's I have found will respond to a smile and politeness with the same in return. There have been exceptions to this though.

The one thing, more than anything else that makes we want to go AAARRRGGGHHHH is the pushing in and chaos around characters - and its usually adults to blame, shoving their way in front of little children to put their child in front.

Also, when we were watching Enchanted Candleabration, the adults hoisting children onto their shoulders. Whilst I could still see a bit, my daughter and niece stood next to no chance behind that.

I don't have any of the above noted issues at DLRP. Perhaps it is the time of year when you visited, or perhaps it is a different outlook.

But smoking, quality/value of food, and other guests really haven't had a negative impact on me in all my visits.

what makes me go arghhhhh at dlp:

having to queue for ages for lukewarm tasteless food, that 20% of the time I have to return as they've mucked up my order.

queue jumping. not acceptable anywhere!

the madness of the character interaction. absolute mayhem.

mediocre table service restaurants. i don't like these normally, but it particularly peeves me off at dlp, where i think the service should be naturally higher.

people talking during shows - cinemagique, the art of animation. we KNOW what films the clips are from!

people smoking in queues around kids - an occasional smoker myself, but this is just incredibly rude.

ARGHHHHH hehehe

On our first trip i must admit i was annoyed by the smoking but i think that was because i wasn't really prepared for it. As a mother of 2 small boys i am very anti-smoking and won't allow anyone to smoke around them, neither do i take them into enclosed areas if there will be smoke there. Now that the ban is here in England it is total bliss and it gets a big thumbs up from me!:thumbsup2
Since our first visit to DLP i really don't let it bother me unless it impacts on my kids. If someone is smoking near them and their cigarettes are dangerously close to their faces i will make that quite clear that it is not acceptable. But i have only had to make my feelings known once!

Again with the character issue, it was a bit shocking on our first visit. As regular visitors to WDW we expected it to be the same as there, very organised and orderly queues. This is definately not the case. But rather than let it get to us, we go to the characters in the parks ONLY if there isn't a big crowd there. We prefer to have our own quality time with them at our character meals.:thumbsup2

I have only encountered one miserable cast member on Dumbo. He really did need to cheer up!!
But other than that they have always been polite and cheerful to us and they really seem to appreciate it when my boys say bonjour to them!:goodvibes

I haven't noticed a problem with large groups of people so that doesn't bother me. Also with the food, although i do find it very expensive, we have only had a bad meal at Planet Hollywood. I would like to see more vegetarian options though.

So many people i know just dismiss DLP because its in France and according to them they wouldn't go because its full of the French! I just find that plain rude. I would imagine its these same people that holiday in Spain and spend the whole holiday eating fish and chips at an English pub!! Whats the point of that!
I am in France and therefore i want to hear people speaking French. I also like the fact that some of the rides are in French, so many people expect them to be in English.:sad2:

So basically i would like the character meets to be better and i would prefer the park to be non smoking but i still love it and can't wait to get there in Feb!!!:cool1:

Not getting to meet Belle because she isn't out at some of the times it says she is!!!!!!!!

Thank god I got to meet her though :goodvibes :goodvibes :)

My biggest gripe really is the character interaction - it really should be set up better, I don't know why they let it continue the way it is. Many characters have been set up at specific locations with queues though since we first went, so that's good. But the CMs seem to have no queue management skills. After a couple of tries though, you get used to it, even though it feels terrible pushing in front a child - but you'd never get a turn otherwise. That and queue-jumping, but you can experience this anywhere not just DLRP.

In all the times at DLRP - I've never met the Beast. I've got into a queue to see him twice and twice they've closed it before I got to see him. That made me go AAAAAARGH!! :teeth:

But the magic of DLRP is, you forget all of this after a couple of minutes and it's just nice to be there :)

Seeing the amount of rubbish and packaging that gets used every day - is it recycled in any way?

It should be and if it isn't then a corporation such as Disney should hang its head in shame.

The only things that really irked me were:

1) people with queuing inabilities

and

2) people who smoked in queues where people had no choice but to be in close proximity to them.

Of course there was my character problem but that's the other thread.

Over all though, for me, none of that spoiled the magic, they were just mild annoyances that made me think, 'that's a bit annoying......but never mind, i'm at DISNEYLAND....yay!' :yay:

I read the original post and wondered if it was a windup, now the OP has decided to delete their posts, I'm even more confused.

Was there any point at all to this thread ?

I did think it was wrong to remove the post after asking the question and having us all answer. I didn't have a problem with the OP's original post so not sure why they felt the need to remove it!:confused3

I suppose that there is nothing wrong with changing ones mind and removing a post. But I did wonder too, especially as the second said something along the lines of 'did not intend to offend'...

You know me, Jill, I was checking to see if there were any references to us 'Continentals' and our behaviour :rolleyes1 but there were no such references.

I didn't actually see much to offend in the original post, just someone having a good vent. Sorry to the OP if they changed their minds; maybe they will come back and post here again.

As the OP has removed their post (which they are free to do so), this thread is being closed.
Thanks :)
